I so far have not forced those joints on mine, as my copy has never knelt in defeat... Addendum:. The "hidden knee" joints on mine work fine. They are a bit stiff, but not as scary as some have reported.
I don't think Marines have the capability to kneel in defeat. One-knee shooting stances, prayer and respect to a leader, yeah, kneeling is appropriate. The artist making my clear Lictors sent me this production shot: The design is a mix of Tyrant, Genestealer, Toxecrene and some original flourishes, but man, I am STOKED!
Thanks for the pictures! The figure looks good with Brocken Man! May I know what jacket you used for the latter? Is it a WWE jacket?
Love the inner bits on the lictor’s claw arms especially! This guy arrived from gw today: Apols for the crap pics. First impressions: I like him! The back knee covers don’t come back up on mine (can’t say I’m bothered) and the right elbow guard falls off a bit (but irritating) and I’d rather a smaller gun and a sword, but his poseability is better than i expected and he’s more fun than expected too. Am sure I’ll have/post more thoughts over the next week or so.
A friend of mine actually helped me figure out the knee panels today. Theres actually a final click when straightening the knees out, you need to press them forward until you can hear the pop and I got the panels back up. Well one is back up, the other is mostly back, but not sitting flush which I'm more blaming on the QC issues I've had. Basically just push the back of the knee forward in the direction of the front of the knee.
I know these aren't 40K per se, but they were made by a garage company ages ago when warbands were getting popular. They'd make a pretty decent Kill Team (if they were bigger...). Found these while looking around my storage bins. They need work, as a few pieces fell off or bent, but I still like them.
Chaos bois desperately need some figures. And though it's likely it'd be Black Legion, I hope it ain't Black Legion...
World Eaters would be good for visuals. Either them or the Night Lords (who don't get enough attention).
Thanks - I’ll try that later! After a bit more time with him I still like him. The elbow pads coming off is irritating so I’ll see if I have some glue around. He hasn’t blown me away, but I do like him more than expected. Am really looking forward to seeing more of them! The articulation is the big question for me, but as with the Bandai, I’ll pick one up in hope, if nothing else. I’ve got no interest in modern day orks, but I’d be all over early 90s ones! Craftworld eldar And imperial guard/imperial agents would be great for me, but I’m down for anything that makes a cool toy (the tau look like they could fit that).
As a customizer with fringe interest i know i'd buy Tyranid and Chaos product. It has so many potential uses beyond 40K.
This totally worked! Thanks! Few more thoughts: - I think I'd have rather he came with a pistol and 'main' melee weapon (chain/powersword). The big bolter feels a bit too big, and bit uninteresting for some reason. A place to store the weapons on him would have been great too. Both weapons grip really well. - I think I'd have rather they used some colour other than black for the shading overspray. it's not terrible, but a shading colour (a deeper blue would be the obvious one I guess) might have made him pop more. - There is some mold flash/sprue marks in areas. Doesn't bother me, but I can see that it might others. - the joints are sturdy (a few to the point of stiffness, especially straight out of the box) but pretty smooth. That's a hard balance to get right, and makes handling him a lot more fun that I was expecting. He holds a pose well even with weight on the limbs etc, and where there are ratchets, there are plenty of them, so you can get those subtly different poses. - I would have preferred more of a ball joint for the torso movement. There's a pretty good range on the hinge but the pivot is at the front of the shest, which looks a little odd from some angle when fully extended. And I definitely miss that side to side torso wiggle for expressiveness. - There's interesting stuff going on with the hips. There's a sort of double pivot for the forward/back movement (that allows for a bit of added clearance for the hips when fully forward) and then a separate in out hinge I think. Unusual, but works pretty well. Would like more outward spread, but it's not terrible. Would also like the hip shields to have more range without popping off, but they're better than I was expecting. - I'm a strictly oldhammer guy aesthetics wise, but I actually find the primaris design growing on me. The bolter feels a bot too 'tacticool' to me, and I'd loose the hip shields (though this model looks to slim around the waist if you take them off) but otherwise, I don't find myself thinking 'I wish this was a mk 6/7'; which I thought I would. - I got this guy about the same time as mafex wolverine and cyclops, and despite the complex shoulder solution/hip shields/general bulk, he feels a fair bit less fiddly than them, and much more 'hand candy' like and stable to pose - which is a key thing for me. Am impressed. (note those hips going past 90 degrees in that last pic with that second hip hinge)
