I seriously doubt even a single TF fan here wants giant Dolly Parton boobs for this figure. Anyone who wants a hyper-sexualized Arcee will get that when the Firebird Nicee figure comes out. I think all most of us want is a more toon accurate MP worthy figure. The size of her chest isn't the issue here.
Wasn't really a comment about size. Dolly has jumped around sizes over the years, but she's ALWAYS had her breasts pushed up to her neck, at her collarbone. Anyway. I'm out of this discussion. Did my piece. Any way I look at it, she looks a hell of a lot better than the first Autobot female carbot, Roadrage. Nothing remotely feminine about her.
She's looking way better than the last images I saw. If (when) they give her a paradron medic repaint, I'll definitely pick it up. That being said, the MMC arcee is leaps and bounds better.
Honestly though... I have no real interest in sexy toy robots, but I'm also not offended by the concept that these characters have been anthropomorphized and gendered. But if we're going to Make Arcee a Wifu then.... "Nicee" looks fun and campy and creative enough to be interesting. I mean lets face it, the character is over sexualized already and it's kinda weird. So if you're going to do it, just commit. And at least on that figure, the kibble is done in a fun and creative way and not just BACKPACK from hell.
Meanwhile, I still just - more or less - see Arcee? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Granted, with some stylistic molding choices little different than, say, the back of Bumblebee 2.0's head which has only very faint, blunted "suggestions" of the slated lines shown in the toon model, or MP-44's angles that create the "suggestion" of curves at the periphery the otherwise square blockiness. Neither are 100% accurate to the static reference models, but they are compromises intended to evoke and suggest the essence of the character, and also (imo as I've said before elsewhere) to suggest the illusion of movement. Like a frame in the middle of animating rather than the static reference model. To me that's the reason for the slightly blunted curves on the waste rather than the hard angles. If you look closely, there are still "corners" suggestive of those angles, they're just softened, like the examples mentioned above are, and like many other examples I could point to in the recent MP line. The only actual things that are a little inconsistent to me with the cartoon - which I think much like Bee's feet and other examples, are due to engineering and material limitations more than anything else - are the chest (and of course the kibble but... every toon accurate MP has kibble nowadays.) It's consistent with the rest of the current line for me, and more than acceptable. The rest of the discussion is beyond the purview of accuracy for me and not something I care about personally due to the time in which the source material was made and various examples of equally anachronistic and arguably problematic characterizations/depictions in said source material of the time itself. It's accurately evocative of (not 100% accurate to) the character - as with other contemporary MPs - for me personally, your mileage may vary. Then again, I just don't sexualize cartoon characters and plastic figures in my own mind so perhaps I don't see the issue others do because I'm not looking for it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
when MP Arcee finally comes out & proves to be a QC-riddled mess the lesson that will be learned by those in charge is sadly not "This design is unworkable in toy form & we should stop trying to do so" but instead "girl toys don't do well so let's make less of them"
If you like your robots busty mp blackarachnia has gotcha covered. I personally do not. Tho I enjoy that figure. My concerns are whether or not it's going to be fun and faithfully represent the character. I suppose I need to see it in hand to make the judgment on whether or not to pull the trigger.
This is made by TakaraTomy, a Japanese toy company, so I think they are unlikely to ever reach either of those conclusions.
Better words were seldomly said. I'm all in for Nicee just because it's such a different take and looks interesting, sexy or not is really secondary. I've got to admit I'm interested in this purely from articulation (as mentioned, the shoulder articulation in the two hand gun poses are incredible) but man the torso makes me say no. It can be just a flat or slightly sloped panel but that disjointed slap on stomach and breast shape, onto a straight down collar is just bad, fembot or no. I mean, if hot rod was like this I'd say the exact same thing.
I also want to point out that there are 9 robot mode poses and only 3 of them show her off in a feminine way, so of course the people here focus on those poses above the other 6. Has anyone stopped to think that the poses aren't "sexualized", but are there to show off the articulation? Has no-one thought that it's maybe it's not about perversion, but the fact that women are more expressive with their bodies than men are, so they're trying to show off the articulation by showcasing more expressive poses? One pose has her on the ground shooting, 99% thought "sexualization", I thought "She must be pretty nimble in combat to shift into that position to shoot." It could even be interpreted as: Coming out of a slide, or maybe she quickly dropped down to kill a Decepticon from below. If you all stopped your bitching for 5 pages you may realize that they've shown off standard battle poses in the same bundle of photos, but if they only had those then how would buyers know that Arcee is incredibly poseable? That's why you have the standard readied pose and the dynamic variants. The main issue is (as always) people - especially men, often thinking that they're speaking on behalf of women, see anything that displays a hint of sexuality and think that it's perverted, it happens with every fembot reveals. There's nothing wrong with a female-inspired character being treated as a female, especially in fantasy. People can say that women don't pose and/or act like that in real life, but I can also say that no man stands spread-eagled with a puffed out chest and hands on their hips thinking that it makes them look "heroic". I'm a woman, and the first thing I saw was a figure that was dynamic and expressive, but just like Nicee or Flames Toys Windblade any pose that can be classified as feminine get called "cheesecake". There are 9 robot mode poses, and yet all people can talk about are the handful of expressive ones. Ruining the fun of having a female figure. Again.
People see what they want to see, I guess. I saw a transformer, articulation wise that can keep pace with any mafex or Figuart figure in someone's collection, especially since they 're looking for people who may not normally buy Transformers to pick up their product.
I\'m sorry to say it because I\'ve wanted this for such a long time but the chest hangs to low and large. This is Clearly off model. It looks like she has multiple face sculps so that is an easy fix. Maybe somone can make a kit to fix this? At least the legs, hips and helmet are perfect.
