The reason they’re called Tyrants in Eternal is because there was already a Cyberdemon in DOOM 2016 (As a boss) so they renamed the one in Eternal to avoid confusion (And possible continuity errors).
No, it wouldn't be a continuity error, since the 2016 Cyberdemon lore specifically states that he was rebuilt by UAC (because they're hell worshiping morons) after they found his desiccated remains in Hell. With Eternal, every enemy got a graphical overhaul to effectively look more like modernized versions of original DOOM enemies from DOOM and DOOM 2, as opposed to the more horror-inspired takes in DOOM 2016. Tyrants are Cyberdemons, but they aren't called Cyberdemons because they're, essentially, the (somewhat) weaker non-boss class variety.
Bad news folks - Bethesda screwed up the OST hard enough that Mick Gordon very likely will NOT return for future DOOM projects. I commented about it yesterday. I turned I'd break the news here. This is a dark day for our beloved franchise : Doom
I just found that, or something that looks like that in the game yesterday. Jumped off a cliff to see what was down there and BAM! Secret found. This game is fun, but crazy frustrating... or I have the difficulty ramped up way too high. The title of this game should be "Doom: Eternal Low Health/Low Ammo." You should have more reserves of ammo than one stinking round and out. When you're constantly at Low Health, it's sometimes hard to remember to chainsaw zombies to replenish your ammo... and that Flame belch is useless. Crap only lasts for 2 seconds and the zombies don't spit out enough armor.
Finally killed that boss with the Angel wings today. I decided not to accept the armour it kept trying to give me as it felt a little unsatisfying the last time I did that. The boss themselves wasn’t that hard to hurt but the last few hits when there was barely anywhere safe to stand was really difficult and I fell at the last post quite a few times. Given that the script has been something something icon of sin I’m guessing that’s the final boss. I didn’t have time to start the final level today but when I do return to the game I hope I have a full level with some decent fights before I face the icon of sin as if I go straight into another boss fight it will feel a bit unsatisfying. I just got the standard version of the game but as I’m getting close to it’s end wondering if anyone here could enlighten me as to whether the additional content for upgraded version was worthwhile or not as some extra stages and single player content would be fun if it’s out there somewhere
Bethesda just can’t stop fucking shit up, can they? How many times can you screw up before you go bankrupt?
Bethesda seems to be trying to challenge EA for being the shittiest game company around, it would seem.
Just got to the Icon of Sin fight (took a lot of breaks due to playing other games with friends) and damn, it’s no joke. One hit brought me from 125 to 45 health. Took a break from the game and started playing something with my friends before I got on for the night. Plan to finish the fight later in the week. I actually just found my rhythm when fighting the Marauders, so that’s nice. Also, the Soundtrack issue sucks. From what I can tell, it also happened on a smaller scale for the 2016 soundtrack as well. Really hope they get it all straightened out, because I’d love to hear Mick’s actual mix.
Mick has followed up saying that he himself will see to getting a proper mix of the OST out, but it would be 'unofficial' so no timeline on where that would be.
I mean, it doesn’t effect the game at all. The music in-game is fine, it’s the OST that’s fucked. EDIT: Oh wait, duh, you are talking about the OST. I forgot those cost money.
Anyone get to a point where there's a glitch? At the Arc Complex, right after you use the turret to shoot the second tentacle, you take a lift down, where there's some ammo in front of a green unlocked door. The door opened and I was ambushed by two pouncing demons and got killed. I started over at the lift spot, but this time the door is locked red and won't open. I don't think this is a puzzle or anything. The damn door just won't open, but it did before and the lift won't go back up. I looked it up online and quite a few people had this issue and had to start the ENTIRE level over again, which is a bitch. It took me forever to pass the room with all those Austin Powers fat bastards, snake bitches and fire-throwing demons.
