I am a-ok with the way Travis Knight has his head aside from the weird mouth thing. He's very expressive. I just wish it translated better to the toys.

 

I think they should stick with the Bumblebee head. It's a little different from the Bay movies, but enough so the casual moviegoer will still recognize that is Bumblebee. Plus, I don't have to be in a big rush to change my avatar!

 

There's no reason for Bumblebee to keep the ball in socket face, he doesnt have to be mute, but if you don't want to give him a face then let him have his G1 face plate.

It's not particularly a bad thing. A lot of people are turned off by the humanoid faces. I personally believe they give them more character

Just to make a point, you are aware the Daytrader design you mentioned above did not make it into the actual film? So it has no actual bearing on what is being said here?

The Red Ironhide was also never meant to be seen in close-up, or designed/rigged for proper animation.

A good chunk of them had close up shots so yes they were and ratchet and Ironside were just recolor so he was rigged to speak

 

Well to be fair these designs were put together in a hurry. The scene was put in late in development so in following movies I can see giving them more unique designs

 

anything is better than what they've been using.
