design changes are already covered by them. You’ve already accepted your funds went towards a WIP when you plunked down the cash, It was in the TOS/TAC

no production sample was ever shown during the funding period either...because it didn’t exist.

    I'll Rephrase: major design changes.

If H were to change Unicron to transform into a giant unicorn instead of a planet... I think there would grounds for legal action. But, I'm not a lawyer.

Yes it would. changing core properties of the product is changing the fundamental nature of your product. IE: a different product than what you promoted as it being.

that’s a little different than “Final product may vary“

They respond by saying, “didn’t you all know this was a My Little Pony crowdfund? No refunds on your giant unicorns!”
(Funny thing is that I’ve typed Unicron so many times, that my phone will now autocorrect unicorn to Unicron)

Does anyone know if there is a remote possibility of still getting this guy somehow around retail or even the preorder prices? I saw the project when it was starting then went through a divorce between last april and september :(  Needless to say I missed out.

Robotkingdom seems to still have a preorder up, but shipping is $300 and I've never ordered from them before. I think the total would be around $885. I have seen the studio cell version, but really would prefer the hasbro version for the extra height and overall aesthetics. Are there any "waiting lists" anywhere in case anyone who has ordered changes their mind? Any info appreciated....

Not likely, at this point you'll pay a markup in some way or another

Thanks for the replies I figured as much. That's a good idea about buying at a convention I never thought of that.

You'll probably pay the same at a convention as you would shipping it from a store. My experience with conventions is they always add quite a markup unless you risk waiting til the last hours and you have more haggle power.

You know what, I’m 100% here for these kind of updates. A toy engineer’s cat chewing on a prototype? Fuck yes.

Yeah, it feels like the neat flip side of all the social distancing we've been doing is that because it meant someone had the toy prototype at their home rather than the office, we got some fun photos out of it.

I'm glad we have some clear dimensions (even if they're not quite final yet). I'm super stoked for this guy. Just when I thought we weren't going to get an update until August, they updated. Just awesome.

So my source last year said we were getting a Quint ship to go with this. Looking at the box it seems to be a real possibility!

Awesome update. I spent some time laughing with my wife over the pictures. Also good to know I could possibly sleep in the box next year.

What a fun update. It's great to see some progress in times like these, and it's also fun to see this beast in more normal conditions...like on someone's kitchen counter. That was a definite laugh and say, "oh god, what have I gotten myself into?"

This was great, I think he's looking great and I'm excited for more updates as we go.

Just noticed by looking at the mold that the face and the ship stand will be molded out of clear plastic. At least it's not a joint.

Edit: Oh derf. Of course the face is clear, the eyes need to be visible, haha.
