Ball joints were an absolute revolution for Transformers - I was a tiny bit too young for G1, but had a couple of G2 toys, and Beast Wars came at just the right age to completely blow the top of my head clean off. More complicated transformations than G1/2 and the bot modes weren't static bricks? Whoa!

I think in the modern day, though, ball joints are less ideal than a combination of other types of joints. As mentioned above, ball joints break up sculpts. They also make it easy to accidentally bend limbs in the wrong direction when you're posing, so you have to be more careful and intentional about it, or you'll end up with something that looks goofy. And, of course, they can also pop off if they're not toleranced well (although generally speaking, I think that being able to pop off and on without breaking is a point in favor of ball joints).

Mmmm, if this is Legends scale it'd be almost the right size for an MP to hold in camera mode right?

They’re also a dead giveaway of the small size

I've been really impressed with the G1 styling and articulation of NewAge's offerings despite their tiny compact size. Awesome things do come in small packages! These Reflectors look fantastic and I might just pick up a set of the normal toon version and the G1 toy version.

I wonder if it is something about tolerance/breaking. All their smallest figures (Bumblebee, Brawn, the Insecticons) seem to use more ball joints than larger NA figures.
Or they just couldn't figure out an engineering solution for transformation while maintaining articulation?

The question isn't how much you would've saved, it's how much money will you have left over if you sold your Masterpiece bots and bought Legends now? :D

I preordered Rear Window. This is the Reflector I've been waiting for. They'll be part of my CHUG collection.

Daaaamn, the toy version looks so good. I am not a Legends collector but I am kind of tempted. $90 is a wee bit steep, though...

This made me look up the price in China.

    Pre-order price:
    H22 - 299 yuan ($43)
    H22T - 349 yuan ($50)
    H22D - 359 yuan ($51)

Do we know for certain the release date of H22? I was really hoping we would get this in June but I'm still seeing conflicting dates on various sites.

The one thing that appeals to me about this NA set is the mirrored asymmetry. The back (though it may not be for everyone) is amazing. Despite some of the design flaws, like the short arms and fixed wrists, I love how Spectro and Spyglass are exact opposites in the back. The way NA pulled off their backpacks was the deciding factor for me. MS had me until I saw their wonky backpacks. It was a clever trick to layer the center piece of the camera, but to (IMHO) the detriment of the robot back. NA really scratches that OCD itch I have always looked for in a toon accurate Reflector toy. Uniformity, or the closest thing to it.

I agree with an earlier post mentioning PE’s stellar performance with their Scouting Force set. I have the Night Ops version and it is fantastic. The only qualm I had with the regular version was the color. I know it’s a petty nit-pick for such an awesome set, but I want what I saw in the cartoon, and have wanted it since I saw it in the cartoon.

I hope for a low price tag, but I am more than willing to shell out the $!

Well, we're in June - if the toon colored variant is still supposed to release this month we should start seeing in hand pics soon, no?

Friend of mine preordered these for me...I am glad he chose these over MS. The only thing the MS have are how they refine the balljoint in the arms.

Would need to buy the Toyversion :D

I pre-ordered the regular version few weeks ago and now I discovered this thread! After checking the pictures, I think I made the right choice with NA over MS ones. It seems to me more cleaner, even the back view. Not too accurate in bot mode as MS, but I really prefer NA in overall.

The one from The Chosen Prime has Ratchet and Bluestreak

the images for your message are broken and i dont understand the question if they are needed.

but if you are asking what bots to buy with reflector. it is easily prime and astrotrain. that is definitely a no brainer.
