Oh, totally. I'm that guy that loves to pick a figure off the shelf and mess with it. So I know he'll look awesome standing there, and then I'll grab him and be like, "oh yeah, huh...."  

Man. This is the main problem with not settling or not believing in "place holder" figures. The only Ironhide I really liked was WJ's version of the Black Apple mod. Sadly, he made it oversized. So as it stands, I don't have an MP Ironhide in my collection.

 

Maybe just grab the tfc iron hide. He looks cool enough and only 189 yuan.

 

Nah--I don't like that style of him for MP. Although, if that guy were voyager-class, I'd have picked him up for my classics shelf.

 

I can understand that. Some of my figures are very pick-up-and-play-able. And I love them for that.

Others are a bit of a chore to transform, and I don’t appreciate the hassle when that time comes.

But since one of my goals is having a full cast of characters, I’ve decided I’m okay with having a few with less ease-of-transformation (for now) as long as I like how they look, and they pose well.

 

Don't suppose anybody has the black version of this mold for sale? I can't find it anywhere.

 

Reading back on the admittedly, months old talk about fragile plastics....All I have to say is personally I dont understand where this talk came from....

The only 'dangerous' part, I thought I might break was durring the transformation of the arms and the very strong connection of the panels on the front of the cabin. That area is extremely stiff and requires a ton of force. The fact that it survived unscathed my hands and the way I handled it, speaks volumes about the fact that the plastic is very good IMHO.

If someone's interested in Salus, I have mine listed for sale, see BST thread linked below. These are rather rare to come by but were made pretty well and mine has held up well sitting on the shelf.

I actually enjoyed transforming it back to its alt mode as it comes in the package. If you want a different mold for your Ratchet than your Ironhide, it's a nice alternative.

 

I'd buy a black version since Takara ain't making one anytime soon, I guess.

 

This was brought up in the 3rd party Throwbacks thread. Totally forgot these guys, I came really close to buying them several times back then!

I'm also surprised Takara never did the black variant of Ironhide.

 

I have them both as well as both MPs but I can't bring myself to get rid of either set, or to commit as one character as one mold and the other as the other, so for now I have my VooDoo bots with my toy-centric MP display since they have lots of cool molded detail in the legs that references the toys.

I still hope some 3P comes along and knocks these characters out the park because so far none of the MP-scaled options (including TFC's Ironhide, which I picked up for cheap and use with my IDW bots) really nails it for me.

 

I've been trying to sell off Ratchet on and off for almost a year now with no luck.

No idea why, as he's a fantastic figure...ah well.

 

I just picked up this ironhide recently. Way better looking than the official one to me but yeah boy. I wish it was of better materials lol

 

Was there ever an upgrade kit to fix the wide stance issue?

 

They fixed it on the Ironhide- on their Ratchet your best bet is to remove the hip ratchets and make it a friction joint by replacing the tiny screw with a nut/bolt from a hardware store (I got mine from Menards). It's quite easy to do honestly.

You simply take apart the hips and remove the ratchet parts, then reassemble using a tiny machine bolt/nut that just fits the hole and is just barely long enough to get the nut on the back side.
