I always thought the SEED and Destiny acronyms were the writers having a go at everyone. Like someone joked about acronyms in a lunch meeting one day and they all thought it was hilarious so they put them in the show.
I'm pretty indifferent to the Eva designs, but damn that pulls off some pretty good poses. My dude, I hate putting together acronyms. An occupational hazard due to the nature of my work.
i tend to build out of order these days, often starting with the areas i happen to feel like beginning with, rather than the actual sequential order given within the manual. even so, to keep a good sense of law and order to the build, and to minimize any chance of misplacing any parts, i tend to snip off only the parts i need for the general subassembly i'm working on at any given time, though when it comes to simple repetitious sets of assemblies and the like, i often snip and clean full sets of parts one or two steps ahead...
As bad as they got in SEED and Destiny, I still don't think they top how forced "FLEIJA" is in Code Geass. I'm pretty sure they intended it to invoke "Freya" of Norse Mythology, so the acronym only works because of Engrish. On top of that all, the acronym stands for "Field Limitary Effective Implosion Armament". The "J" is jammed in there just to make the acronym work.
This kit isn't particularly more articulated than, let's say, the RG NU but it's incredibly dynamic. The design, proportions and muscular sculpt make poses look a lot more tangible. It's a superb, fresh build but not without its quirks. First off, none of these should keep you from getting this kit. They're fixable and don't distract from the main attraction, non-issues in my book. 1. Heels may pop off if you're rough with the feet. Glueable and even without glue I hadn't had it happen in a while. 2. Jaw got loose very quickly. This one annoyed me the most, mainly because I couldn't fix it with a coat of glue or pledge. Made the joint tighter with tape, not my favourite solution but it works. 3. I've heard people complain about the lower arms falling off. I could potentially see that happening, mine are a tad looser than I'd like but never fell off. Easily fixable by glueing the halves that make up the port. (4.) I don't like the way the hips connect to the torso (it's a rotating piece) but so far it's solid and if it ever becomes a problem I'll just glue it. Those are the negatives, if you were to ask about the positives I'd start gushing.
While my MG Barbatos is stuck in a post office in Japan (possibly for the next 4 months), my MG FAZZ came in, so yay. I didn't realize the box was huge, I think the last time I got a MG in that size, it was Strike Freedom with the stand and everything.
@SPLIT LIP and other Canadians: I got my order from Sunward Hobbies today (ordered last Monday, and tracking originally said that it should've arrived last Thursday, but the pandemic is affecting everyone, so it's probably not Canada Post's fault). Saw some reviews online that said that the shop isn't great when it comes to messed-up orders, but no issues for me on this first order. I'd definitely give them a shot if you need $60+ worth of stuff to take advantage of the free shipping. Depending on what I need, it might become my go-to online shop for primer/paint/thinner.
due to the generosity of a family member, i might, -MIGHT- be getting a 1/60 PG RX-0 soon. if i do, it'll become the centerpiece of the GUNDAM-related portion of my Anime toy/model collection extant;
The Full Armor upgrade is still available for Preorder.. PG 1/60 FULL ARMOR EXPANSION UNIT FOR UNICORN GUNDAM [Sep 2020 Delivery] | PREMIUM BANDAI USA You're welcome!!!
For someone who does gunpla for like 1-2 years, I find it kinda hysterical that I still doesn't even have a kit of the classic design RX-78-2 Gundam yet (The HGBD GBN Base Gundam doesn't count, since that wasn't even supposed to be the actual RX-78-2), so I just went and ordered a MG RX-78-2 Gundam ver 2.0. Having build the MG GM Sniper Custom whose inner frame is based on the aforementioned MG RX-78-2 ver 2.0, I'm a huge fan of that inner frame and how solid it is, which does gives me quite a bit of hope that the MG RX-78-2 ver 2.0 would be just as spectacular despite its more basic, anime-accurate look.
Nah... much like the MACROSS VF-1, i prefer the RX-0 lean and clean. indeed, the spare, utilitarian "military aerospace" look and feel of the RX-0 in "Unicorn" mode is precisely what appeals to me most. if i get one, it will be remaining in a "hybrid" mode same as my MG;
Does anyone happen to know how to get that blue/violet/not quite purple that many of the modelers on the on the internet seem to use.? I know Wonderexcellence and Anaheim Factory seem to like to use this color.
Im contemplating getting the MG 2.0 RX-78 and the MG G-Fighter. Ive built the 2.0 GM and the HG G-Armor set before, so I got an idea what to expect, but I wanna know if anyone here has had experience with the MG G-Armor?
Mixing paint most likely. I've gotten into the habit myself and improved on matching part colors for different series. That's four different shades of Cobalt for my PG GP01, UC kits, the GM Dominance, and 00 series. I've got different grays now too. "PG" for Perfect Grade, but it's a perfect brown/gray mix that matches the INFINITISM kits. "IDW" for my Furai Model Optimus and this is my latest batch for "UC" kits like the ZZ Version Ka and the Narrative Gundam. Much better match compared to Gunship Gray which I use on most kits.
cross posting with the Robot Damashii board with some pictures of a bunch of GM C-types for basic comparisons
It's more fun this way. Trick is finding the right starter color and what modifiers work best. The secret ingredient for "UG Gray" is a little red.. I need to fix my F90 recipe. It uses two of the other blends I made and I want to streamline it to raw colors so I can have more of it for the F90II and Alex. Meanwhile, I'm skipping around the backlog again for a bit and have to resolublize this... I completely forgot what went into this one, it looks like Leather, Flat Gull Gray, twist of lime? I dunno... it's just a quick pot of potluck for the RG Tallgeese III and the pigment settled. This is why I love the heating coil in the Ultrasonic.
