As far as I can tell, they were going to go with robotic versions of the organic forms. That way they skip the problem of going from organic to robotic. Kind of imagine robotic versions of the original Beast Wars characters. Then sequels could progress to Transmetal 1 and Transmetal 2 forms.

Part of the core idea of Beast Wars is that the ship is what bestows the alt-mode while the characters do not really have a choice of what alt-mode they get. I'd use this for part of the plot, that the transforming matrix within them is damaged in the crash and they are unable to select an alt-form themselves and rely on the pre-selected version from the ship. They are stuck with whatever the ship gave them from whatever lived in the area they crashed.

The purpose of the alt-forms would be that without them the spark would decay into nothingness due to pre-historic Earth's electrical energy. So they have to have an alt-form, but have no real incentive to use it - other than for advantages the alt-mode might provide.

The main problem with adapting Beast Wars would be the plot, which primarily revolved around conflicts over energon or protecting early humans/history. While early humans are an option, I think having the Predacons primary goal being to slaughter humans would be a bit difficult to depict onscreen. Energon is an option for a first film I suppose, potentially finding the source of Energon and fighting over that could be what serves as the finale and triggers the transmetal wave to set-up a potential sequel.

...actually, I find myself hoping the studio pulls an IDW this time and keeps Megatron and Galvatron separate characters...even if only to get a little more distance from the previous movies.

I think that would be more akin to, say, the insides of their mouths, with bone teeth and a tongue and whatnot, rather than hearts and lungs.

I hope the script writers are up to it. If you look at their collective work it's a very mixed bag.

A sequel to Bumblebee or a continuation to that universe is warranted given it was significantly better than any previous TF live action movie.

Kinda hard to tell if it's a joke when many people are falling for it (not on here, necessarily).

Not happening. Michael Bay has made it very clear that he is done with the Transformers. I think he even admitted that he doesn't even like Transformers to begin with.

I want them to do Beast Wars, and I can see them doing it for the sake of branching out the franchise. We already have an unrelated prequel film releasing so now is the time to expand the franchise. Plus the already have Primal's gorilla mode designed, so they have a point of reference for the film.

And no, one film is not going to be canceled, they literally just announced another movie. They're saying that 2 films were in development but they haven't decided which film is going to be the 2022 film. One will release in 2022, the other probably the year after.

Honestly the overreaction culture of this forum never surprises me.

If they do beast wars, I cant wait to see all the die hard BW fans complain about how (insert random director here) has ruined their childhood. I cant wait to see how they demonize that director for daring to do anything that deviates from the original 90s cartoon. These threads will be good for real.

There isn't even a movie! How could you assume it will be bad if they haven't even released any info besides them making the film. This could a very memorable movie that everyone would probably enjoy. But that's your opinion, just like mine.

Well I hear you, but I wasnt really talking about the movie being "bad". Im predicting hardcore BW purists will trash the movie in similar fashion to how G1 purists trashed Bayverse and demonized Michael Bay for daring to not follow G1 traditions. Now I predict BW fans will do the same. Afraid of something different.

I think that the films only started to go downhill from TLK. I actually enjoyed watching Optimus' character arc across these film, he was the most grounded he's ever been to me.

TLK is quite possibly the worst movie ever made, it is so fundamentally nonfunctional as a film.

Optimus had no character arc in the movies. He was wildly inconsistent among all five.
