I still think he purposefully sabotaged TLK to get out of the franchise, to be honest.

Fair point I wasn't aware of the Sony deal. My thinking was that if it's been a few years since the last knight and he's done a couple of passion projects with Nefflix and what not I thought maybe there was a chance but it's moot now anyway.

Believe or not I suspected that when I saw this scene.

Someone here or the Wiki suggested Topspin's body was given Leadfoot's head because his head didn't have a functioning mouth for dialogue. Since Leadfoot's dead while Topspin and Roadbuster are not, why not just use Roadbuster?

Better yet, why include the scene at all? I wonder where Bay's priorities were with TLK.

Or perhaps give Topspin a mouthplate? Or maybe a don't give him any speaking lines and make him do some body language?

So is this a prequel to the Bumblebee movie or don’t we know where it fits yet?

I think people are overthinking the whole "prequel" thing.

It was a bad joke. And the worst way to re-introduce a favorite of many.

Ugh...one of the many reasons why I despise the last knight. It's so fucking stupid, who thought it was a good idea? I never, ever, despise a movie in my life yet this one managed to do just that.

We saw what happened to Leadfoot in AoE. Maybe Topspin's head got blown off and they were able to save Leadfoot by attaching his head to Topspin's body.

I don't think he purposely sabotaged it. You have to keep in mind directors spend years of their lives working on movies. Very few directors would devote that much time to intentionally making a movie that wouldn't earn its money back. At most it's possible he sabotaged it in editing, if the studio started messing with it too much. The inconsistent aspect ratio is the main thing that seems like trolling to me. But I doubt that was the case. I think Bay's heart just wasn't in it. He was probably doing it mostly for the paycheck, I think any passion for the series wasn't extremely present.

I don't know, they've been reusing and tweaking CG models since ROTF. I'm not sure how this would sabotage the movie. I doubt the general public even remembers who Leadfoot or Topspin were, so this wouldn't affect the box office. It was likely just because Topspin's head wasn't rigged for movement (considering he didn't speak in DOTM). Or it may have been an attempt to pass it off as a new character, like Nitro Zeus having KSI Boss' body and Shockwave's head. They probably didn't want to create a unique design for this short scene, so they just reused assets they had around. A bit lazy, but it was probably innocent intentions.

Still getting made. Animated movie is it’s own separate thing. If anything it’ll get further along since you don’t need to go on set anywhere

I meant as in what year this might get released. Since they haven’t given a clear release window.

Yes there have been copies before. Like Onslaught.
But the wreckers were given a lot of media attention during production.

They received some cool posters and decent scenes. Some people remembered them. But overall likely not.
To swap heads, for whatever reasons wether lazy or not said a lot. A lot in TF5 could have been done differently if they weren't so focused on the failed TF universe.

It wasn't just this scene but others that just didn't do anything for the movie.

I wasn\'t a big fan of Toy Story 4, but I won\'t let my distaste of that film let me reject this entirely.

An animated film set during the War on Cybertron is the single best idea Paramount has had ever since obtaining the Transformers license.

If they\'re able to execute this properly and let it tie directly to the Bumblebee universe, this has the potential to be huge.
