Disney has so little faith in their creations they have to tear down the OT.

Disney can lie to themselves all they want and say the woman stole the secret Death Star plans on Planet vault, but I know deep down inside, who really stole the Death Star plans.

Is that from an actual Lucasfilm book? If so, that's downright awful. Yet more evidence that some of the people at Lucasfilm don't really understand what they possess. And not only does it undermine Luke, it reads like they didn't even watch Rogue One. Did they miss the part where it was a team of Rebel spies, not just Jyn Erso?

People will probably try to fall back on the whole "from a certain point of view" argument. But to me, that's just a way to excuse bad and inconsistent writing. Heck, that's exactly what it was back in 1983 when Obi-Wan said that line. It was a cheap way to get around the fact that Vader being Luke's father contradicted Obi-Wan's dialog from A New Hope.

Awful writing is just awful. Sheesh. Talk about putting a bandaid on a gaping wound...of sorts.

That’s certainly hyperbole to say the least that Jyn destroyed the Death Star. Of course her sacrifice and the sacrifice of Rogue One is to be remembered but come on. Just ignore it, it’s just one dumbass and one dumbass can’t overwrite how we saw Rogue One sacrifice their lives to get the plans, or how Luke fires the shot.

... I would like to rewatch Rogue One again, now, though.

Funny thing is, this even takes away achievements for their own characters too. I can't remember any names other than k2, but i can remember those characters. And remember they were all important in getting those plans.

It was, but at least it was written in a way that made sense and done competently.

Kinda hard when it's, y'know, official published material.

Plus it's strikingly indicative of the mindset behind the Disney writers.

Feel like watching Solo. I recently scored Alcohol Wipes. Right now they are precious and hard to come by, and trying to obtain them made me think I was obtain Coaxium. And that made me think of the movie.

    Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Canon is still a thing, and still means something.

    Well that’s just dumb writing.

It’s sad when the prequels are being remembered fondly despite their various shortcomings. George was right; he sold his child to slavers.

Lest people forget this image from Lucasfilm’s storyboard room:

I remember that a lot of people unfairly bullied Andi for it, even though that poster belonged to someone with a pro-Empire setup, hence the Luke being crossed out. The whole notion that everybody in the Lucasfilm offices is totally against Luke and the OT in general is utterly ridiculous.

    I'm sure it's not everybody.

But you're kidding yourself if you don't think there's some concerted effort to bring down Luke as the hero of Star Wars to prop up Disney's OCs. They destroyed his character in TLJ, destroyed his legacy, then destroyed his father's legacy in TROS.

Yup, that'll always be a mystery to me as well. I still stand by the fact that those jokequels did as much, if not more, damage to Vader's legacy as the awful ST did to Skywalker's. Pre-prequel era: Vader was arguably THE most bonafied badass villain ever, and not knowing his full backstory made him even more mysterious and intriguing. Post-prequel era: Vader is, eh, still sort of cool, but now we know he was just a little bitch his entire life. Nothing but a tiny, whiny, little full fledged bitch AND socially fucked creeper right up until very last moment as Anakin. And that takes a LOT away from his former badassery. The only difference with the ST is that they squandered & killed everyone's legacies in the years that followed rather than retroactively ruined them "in advance" the way Georgy Boy did.

Eh, but whatever. Nothing to be done about it now, so no need to continue going off about it. I'll keep the OT as my ONLY SW trilogy, and count 4 of the 8 Mandalorian episodes as the first things I've truly enjoyed since ROTJ.
