I mean it’s kinda hard to argue the CGI model isn’t the true version to base figures off, so whichever megs is closest is obviously the Most accurate. This ain’t G1 we’re it’s a horribly drawn 80’s cartoon with characters who change size and color every couple of seconds.

 

Anyone here with recommendations on what to use to paint his eyes? I heard something about crystal red paint where the light still shines through once painted.

 

You should still get a good amount of shine through from the LED as long as the clear red isn't applied too thick.

I agree. I was kinda on one in that post. My point wasn't necessarily that the CGI isn't the true source, but more the way the info was presented as absolute.

 

Me, I usually paint the eyes with crystal red mixed with regular blue or red. And it shines perfect.

 

Is this in the market already?

Aoyi Mech LS-12 Megatron Oversized

 

Looking to buy this guy. Anything I should watch out for, asides from paint chipping? Are the wing cracks universal?

 

Be wary around the wings but use all your might for the legs

 

I assume this is the thread for Megatron Aoyimech LS12 OSKO (oversized ko whatever). The people when open a thread never put a clear title, so I will explain my opinion here.

Yesterday I was bored with the quarantine, so I decided to transform some figures. One was LS12... I admit that I really like the aesthetics of Megatron OSKO LS12 "AoyiMEH" but my fingers suffered pain transforming it. I had to literally squeeze every piece and tab. Continually everything was poping out... I finished the transformation in... 1:30h or more!!. Very very unfunny, I won't never transform this guy again, I really hated it. A lot of paint chipping (my fingers in silver spots, literally) and cracks on the articulation of the wings. The alien ship is huge, more than Blackout Weijiang Hide Shadow... But it's constructed in VERY weak materials. Be careful with this figure... AoyiMEH never more.

 

I did have a clear title when I made the thread - mentioned "Aoyi Mech" and "LS-12" specifically, way back when there was uncertainty as to whether this or their BB Prime would take the LS-12 designation. Admins changed it sometime in November, though. Ever since I've learned to give the benefit of the doubt for people who have ambiguous thread titles, since they probably didn't choose them.

Pretty much agree with you, though. It feels like a very brittle plastic, which gives the illusion of being strong right up until it fractures instead of flexing. Hindsight I wish I'd gone with the WJ instead - the paint sold me on this one, but as you mention it does seem to fall of in places. May still wind up with the WJ if I stumble upon one for a good price, and perhaps just keep this one for alt-mode display.

 

I'm sorry!! it was an opinion without any kind of importance, I wasn't attacking you (sincerely I didn't check who opened the thread haha), because it cost to me a lot finding this thread... then I tried to use combinations   It's not personal, my apologies!.

I thought the same of the Weijiang version, but too much golden paint for my likes. Anyway... I regret a little bit, because the LS12 is so damn huge that I can't barely play with it, it's not handly at all. I think in the LS12 like a "display figure", not as "toy for play". I'm one of those that I "play" with the figures everyday taking pictures, changing poses, etc... but this Megatron is too heavy weight and brittle.

 

No need to apologise. Was only explaining what happened - never even crossed my mind that you meant any harm. Pretty sure there's at least six different "OSKO (not) Megatron" threads including this one, the WJ alternative, LS-06 Tank Commander, the Dream Factory variant of that one, Rendsora, and NE-01 Megamaster, and I think maybe one or two of them actually mention the company name.

And yes - the gold! It actually almost put me off this one with how muted it is, if not for how spectacular the silver looked in early photos. Probably should have gone with the WJ and tried my luck painting if I didn't like it in hand in hindsight, though it's fair to say my skills with paint aren't that good. He's [the WJ] not a great deal smaller, though... from memory there's maybe 2cm difference, but someone else might have a better recollection.

I wonder if Honey Badger (the straight-up KO MPM-8) would have been more what you're after?

 

I've never seen Aoyimech LS12 OSKO in person, but I would have to say that Honey Badger's paint job is better quality in terms of finish and areas painted when compared to Wei Jiang's Megatron. This is purely my opinion of course. Honey badger appears to have a thicker coat of protective layer over the paint apps than Wei Jiang's. I'm not even sure that Wei Jiang's has a protective coating. I haven't had any issues with scratching or flaking paint on either of them though. While I prefer the coloring on Wei Jiang's more, I Honey Badger's paint apps are more tastefully applied as far as the gold goes. Only by a little bit though. Certainly not a deal breaker for me anyways. Both are very nicely applied and I don't seen any sloppy paint anywhere on either of the figures.

 

I don’t understand it. They very much knew there was 3 threads yet they made them all virtually the same title. Why the hell cause confusion like that? Can we have a mod change it to actually include the dam company’s name?

 

when i made the thread for the WJ Megs it was just KO OS MPM-8 iirc. it got changed when the actual company name was revealed

 

There's some unwritten rule about KO companies names being in thread titles and it's selectively enforced.

 

Seems like a weird rule. If Hasbro wanted to sue, they would find the company name either way. Not like TFW is the only way to do that. Just seems like a bias against KO’s from a few people. Remember that fiasco where someone out of the blue merged 3-4 KO threads into the General ko thread and mods had to undo it? Weird stuff going on there.
