Good god, I have no fucking clue what the hell is going on here. Lack of animation frames means no sense on continuity, so everything's just blinking willy-nilly all over the place.

I used to have a couple of cheepo dollar store LCD games as kid. Basic tennis/pong style things that worked well enough for what they were. The ones trying to pretend they're a Gameboy-level game, though? Yeah, what I said above. They just can't keep up graphically with the concepts they're trying to convey. And from the few ones I played with, it just felt like they were cheating, when to create a higher difficulty level, they'd just have your character respond slower or something, so they couldn't keep up with the "ball" being lobbed your way, or whatever the goal of the game was.

I kinda want this as a display item. Definitely don't care to play it though. Those tiger games usually sucked

I'm all for nostalgia and G2 reissues (is this the first since the G2 Optimus from way back?) But my memories of Tiger Handhelds was more confusion then entertainment.

Tiger games reissues? this really is the worst timeline. Tbh this is sorta cool, I love reissues of anything, and it's nice to see recognition of g2.

Ah, I love these old fashioned weird LCD games lol. Many forget, but they were huge back in the day and have a huge legacy (see Nintendo's Game & Watch among others.) Even Tomy - of today's merged Takara-Tomy - had some pretty cool and weird iterations of these kinds of systems back in the day. See Tomytronic 3D Thundering Turbo, my personal favorite.

I think the reason these Tiger iterations from the 90s are viewed so unfavorably is simply the fact that by that point we were so far into "real" home consoles as the standard, and graphics were already so far beyond simple LCD, they no longer even felt attractive as cheap alternatives to what were perceived "real" handhelds like Gameboy, Game Gear, etc. Whereas in the late 70s and into the 80s, while better graphics existed, gaming was still such a novelty (still tied to its old mechanical amusements and arcade roots in many respects) that any and every "video game" product was just another toy on the shelves and racks, and people would just play whatever.

Accordingly, many have fond memories of those earlier LCD products, but less so of the later ones by the late 80s and early 90s lol. But mechanically, they really weren't doing anything terribly different from the old Game & Watch and similar from a decade plus earlier.

(If anyone reading this has no idea what I mean, if you've played Smash Bros... now you know why Mr. Game & Watch animates as he does :lol  )

He did a video on youtube about the infamous Tiger hand helds and it freakin hilarious. Luckily I had a game boy and never bothered with the Tiger games. They did look terrible.

This. Display is the main reason I would want to get it as well. But gameplay not so much. It would mainly be a nostalgic oddity on my shelf.

Why the rage against the original line/series?

Those words have never been said within the Hasbro buildings. That might seem fair or more reasonable, and that's exactly why it will never be.

I mean, I loved my Sonic 3 Tiger handheld when I was 6. It was better than not playing a video game on a car ride, at least

    It's $14.99.

Less than a deluxe figure. Pretty reasonable.
Walmart, Target, Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and Entertainment Earth all have pre-orders open. Not exclusive to any one retailer.
This has nothing to do with G1.

    It's G2.

But in all seriousness, they're also remaking a number of Tiger games which didn't see a huge release towards the end of the Tiger Electronics handheld line. This isn't a specific position on Transformers G1/G2. They chose a number of games to reissue, and this was selected. Nothing more than that.

Do you have a link to this at Target? I can't find it, but would happily use them and get free shipping with my Redcard.

I don't see it on the site, but I do recall this being a mass release. It'll be there at some point I imagine.

Yeah, I'm not waiting on that. I've got a pre-order in already, not wanting to take any chances. Just thought you were referencing a way I might save some money. I don't have your confidence that it might be available widely later. (Not questioning your mass release info, but that term doesn't actually mean widely available. Just ask Siege Rung.)

True that. Although he's in an upcoming Earthrise wave?

Was just the easiest example. Since he's being reissued, it's not the best one. The point is, we were talking about pre-orders, not whether or not it's mass retail.
