Just opened my Hound, finally. Had it pre-ordered via HLJ back at launch, just hadn't got around to him until now.

Transformed to robot mode without a hitch, following a combo of the instructions and the P4L review. Absolutely loving how it turned out, and feeling fortunate that there was no breakage (though, to be honest, I wasn't sure where the issues were...just made sure to be extra careful the whole time). My only real gripe is that I could not get the foot to properly close with the tire inside. Decide to just forget about storing any accessories inside the feet, and use the canopy for that.

Overall loving it. Still have more in the backlog to open, too...v3 Optimus, v2 Bumblebee, Blackarachnia, Lio Convoy, a few + releases, and some FansToys releases. Just been a slow process of getting the man cave together since moving late last summer.

I hear yah. Im still thinking about getting V3 Optimus and V2 bumblebee is on the way.

I also left out the spare wheel and his weapon out of his feet. Too much of a hassle. Though in theory, you can just fold those up already and then just clip them on. I watched emgo's to help me transform it properly without anything getting snagged.

First crack to appear. Didnt transform it and never posed since I put it on the shelf. Left ankle right on the pin post. I dont know why I keep giving takara tomy a chance. This why I'll stick with 3rd party transformers.

In all honesty the whole heating up and cooling down of this plastic is NOT a good idea. Bad enough this new plastic is defective as is. Why is this even a thing?

I have three little cracks like that at that same pin on his right ankle. I'm not sure how mine is still able to stand since it must be hanging on by a thread at this point. I TF'd him back into alt mode recently without him falling apart, somehow.

I did the same as you and still got a crack at the swivel where his shoulder cannon is. This figure has issues, I don’t think many people are going to find they don’t have any cracks in the long run.

This thing looks sooooo good. It's really a shame that the materials don't hold up as they should, I hope it is the plastic and not a design flaw what is causing the breakages.

I sort of lost interest in collecting, the last Transformer I bought was MP Megatron, but I really do like the look of Hound. I'd very much prefer the G1 toy colour scheme, so I'm kinda hoping if they release a + version with a darker colour scheme, they'll use better plastics and learn from this whole experience. Might tip my hand back to the collecting world if they do.

I think I was led to believe that a KO of Hound is on the horizon?

Or was this just one of these stupid social media troll-y things on a Thursday?

    KO MP-47

The only KO's I've ever bought were of G1 figures that were never going to be reissued (hello Mirage, the Dinobots) and MP Ratbat - looks like Hound will be next.

And no, this won't cost Takara a penny, I'll still have my official version, for better or worse.

Amazing!! Would love to see the photo in higher resolution if possible, and maybe with him wielding 12G's sword :D

Hard to blame anyone for turning to the KO here, especially those who actually bought the official.

What a damn shame, both that the QC issues happened, and that TT apparently never addressed them (sad that a bigger business with more profit can't afford to do what 3P companies do and offer after-sales support). I do hear there's good after-sales support for people in Japan, but I don't know if Takara offered to replace their Hounds or simply accept their return. When the entire product is defective it's a super tricky situation, it's not simply a case of replacing parts.

Anyway, now does anyone want to sell me their broken Hound? :D

For Japanese customers, TakarTomy allows you to send in figures or parts that have issues. They'll either fix or replace them. It can take a while though.

I've found it easier and faster to go through Amazon whenever I have issues within 30 days of purchasing.

Lately MPs have been held together with pins and rivets over screws though (which I much prefer, looks so much cleaner), so I imagine it might not be as simple to swap parts on Hound?

I wouldn't know for sure, since no one will sell me their broken one :p
