When NY closed the ticket was there a statement from them? Or nothing, which is poor form.

No statement, I only realised when I checked the ticket status. I opened another ticket but that has never been replied to.

Wowsers! I haven't been on this forum for months now. Wish I saw this this thread that's 521 pages long before purchasing one. Due to arrive any day now and expecting to be mucho disappointed.

Anyways, got my shock oil and mini screw drivers ready for his imminent arrival.

Remember you need a few days in ambient-temperature quarantine too... then, all you need is a little energon, and a lot of luck :D

nah, you missed the point he was making....it is believed that letting the figure sit 1-2 days and allowing the plastic to slowly reach ambient temps will decrease the chances of cracking.

But yeah, do clean off the mailer...cant be too careful these days.

    You got it

It might be an urban myth, but so many of us did it in late December and early January that it is now a rite of passage if you purchase MP47 :lol

So is there a summary of useful things to do to try and minimise damage? I haven't opened mine yet but will soon, are there screws to be loosened or is the better strategy to just glue bits back together as they break?

Keep in mind that there just plain seems to be something wrong with the plastic that makes it, sometimes, extra brittle. But, you can take the following steps:

    - Hold parts as close to the rotational joint as possible when moving them
    - Consider using silicone oil (or another plastic-safe lubricant) to free up tight joints
    - Loosen screws where possible to free up joints (especially the one holding the shoulder rocket arm to the base of the windshield)
    - If you’re really adventurous, you can drive the pins out of some of the tight pinned joints, ream out the holes a tiny bit and reinstall the pins

He’s available at a discount on AJP, if that is an option for you!

All in that's still €123, hoping to find one a little cheaper than that if I can. I'm watching Amazon closely to see if it goes down in price though!

I kinda want a broken one so I don't have to worry about when it'll break :lol

Interesting side note is that I suspect MPM Jazz may have a similar issue with the plastic but only on one part which is bizarre.

I bought two copies of MPM Jazz recently on a 60% off sale. One of them had a collar piece that had its ball joint painted to the rest of the figure. When I went to move it the ball joint cracked right through the ball. This is a somewhat common issue with the figure. Where it gets weird and potentially related to Hound is that I managed to glue the ball back together and inserted it into the socket. It was fine for a few movements but then it cracked again but in a different place. This time the shaft between the ball joint and the rest of the part. I looked at the plastic where it broke and there’s no white stress marks and the material is extremely shiny like glass. Very similar to Hounds plastic. Also when it broke there was no warning or snapping sound. It just fell apart like chocolate. Just like Hound.

I don’t want to start a panic. Jazz is for the most part a good figure and I believe most copies are ok but that one part has broken for quite a few people and I suspect whatever went wrong with Hound in the moulding process happened to Jazz. But again it’s strange because the opposite collar part seems fine and I would assume they’re moulded together in the same tool. Anyway I’ve glued the part again and I plan to sand down the ball a bit and try one more time. Pain in the ass.

Lol...I get that. I think AJP has some used ones for sale as well. I didn’t check the prices, but, I suspect you’re likely to get a broken one in there somewhere. FWIW, I love my Hound despite the issues and cracks...fingers crossed parts don’t start falling off one day.

Finally got mine today. First thing I did was prep my operating table lol. I got the main figure out of the box and inspected it all over. Next I put it under a towel and subjected it to warm heat from blow dryer. After that, while warm, I sprayed every single joint I could see with silicone lube. Moved/transformed parts while lubricating, inspecting and warming through out the process.

One hour later, I have a rather oily but fully transformed figure (silicone will dry out)
No visible cracks or stress marks on plastic noted. I'll inspect it frequently as days go by and note them here if there are any changes.

All in all, this turned out to be a pretty nice release. The transformation is quite pleasing and everything locks as they should. Aesthetically nice to look at and the articulation way above average.

I haven't changed it back to vehicle mode yet but I recommend warming it up first before you do.

Edit. I also loosened a couple of screws, mainly that rotation joint that's connected to the head and windshield

Glad to see that your copy is starting out without any cracks. I’ll be interested in seeing how things go for you over time.
