I can recall some similar engineering, but I don't recall any instance where a molded piece from one line made it to another (except for certain exclusives like Crossbone's GI Joe 6Sigma gun but that was an accessory). And repainting an existing mold from another toyline will get them into major hot water with the licensers. And piecemealing a toy using other pieces is probably more expensive than just doing a new mold in the long run. If Hasbro does cheap out, it'll be within the GI Joe line and considering how many of the original toys were repaints or retools, cheaping out is kind of on brand for GI Joe, haha. I don't think higher end collector exclusives are necessary. Having Snake Eyes in hand, there really isn't much I'd say needs improvement. I think people would prefer more accessories but as someone who collects Figma and Robot Spirits, more accessories is not always better. The amount of loose hands and guns I have, I could build a life-size person.
This can't be stated enough, it's awesome that i have the ability to use for diff setups and displaces but most of it i windup bagging and putting away in a drawer, i have a plastic 5 drawer broken down into sections filled with extra stuff from figures over these past 10+yrs as far as soft vs plastic, i'm unbothered either way though i do desire some really nice soft capes for a few of my figures like Spawn, or Dr. Strange, Thor, or Doom since their capes are used so dramatically. I like the style that Storm used but that is a one off that i don't think would work with everyone and certainly not the 4 i mentioned. Only Gold Destro and CC am i worried about capes looking really good in the GIJoe group, and i'm sure they're more likely to use plastic like ML than soft like SWBS
Maybe a question for a sub thread, but any other old timers experiencing a sense of deja vu? I really like what they are doing across the board with siege and earthrise and love me my Transformers, but even with them being so awesome, I’ve slowed down and been a bit more selective with my purchases. Now G.I. Joe comes along and I think I’m all in. Made me think back to the G1 Days, and how I made the transition from mainly Transformers to mainly G.I. Joe. Anybody else go through that transition? I don’t know that it was a conscious choice then and I’m 99% certain that my gateway drug into Joes was the original B.A.T., but I’m kinda psyched that my interests are shifting the same way they did back in ~1986/88.
I kinda did a full circle recently by getting back into collecting, mainly with MP/3P Transformers and then dropped those for Macross about a year or so ago. For GI Joe back in the day, I collected those along with Transformers and by the time the BAT came out, it was one of the last Joe figures I cared about getting since they started getting into a lot of rehashes in worse and worse colors at that point.
Odd. The case I ordered from EntertainmentEarth was charged today and is 'processing'. Thought these had a June 1 release date? Hopefully it's actually going to happen and I get them in a week or so.
The deja vu is likely due to Mark Weber, former brand manager for Transformers and GI Joe until a few years ago and pushed for a G1/ARAH return to roots so to speak.
My preorders are with Pulse. Should I switch to EE or Dorkside? Do they tend to get things earlier than Pulse and other online options?
erivera94 on Youtube’s Instagram profile post: “G.I. Joe Classified 6 Inch Series 1 #duke #snakeeyes #scarlett #destro #roadblock #gijoes #gijoeclassifiedseries #gijoe #gijoeclassified…”
Didn’t realize Snake-Eyes was a smaller overall dude than Duke. I like. I like these size variations. Glad to see the team doesn’t have Rockette height requirements. Hope this continues. I am also 99% sure my Roadblock is getting an olive drab vest paint application. I do not like that green I hope it’s a camera issue but it looks like antacid.
I attempted to play with the 25th era figures with my kids but they just aren’t playable toys; they end up as floppy as marionette puppets. The Classified lineup looks like I can rip’em out if the package, toss’em to my boy and have him go to war with. I can’t wait.
Man I only wanted the classified snake eyes, but the more I look at these, the more they are growing on me.
The problem for me with the 25th stuff is I have giant alien hands every time I mess with them I am knocking guns out of hands, they all crash into each other like dominos, putting on any gear is like brain surgery. Every time I see @mark4flair collection I think I would wreck that like Frankenstein in 30 secs.
I felt that way up until wave 5. From ROC and beyond they were solid but can have issues with loose grip for weapons. Retaliation wave a felt cheap but luckily quality went up by later waves. I can see where you're coming from with the new Classified figures though.
