This is a common refrain but I think this show is an example of how modern Harley can be done really well.
New trailer and images. So seems it is indeed NO Man's Land. Barbara Gordon and Catwoman appear too. Weird to see Mr Freeze with hair... https://dcanimated.com/2020/03/harley-quinn-season-two-media/
So... watched the episode... Spoiler 1, In Harley's defense, if Harley had taken over the city quickly, those five would have probably teamed up to stop her anyway, and in Ivy's defense, if that happened, it wouldn't have been that easy. 2, This is probably my DC paranoia talking but does anyone else think that this is either a "Batman Damned" twist forshadowing or that who the paramedics found was actually Hush (Tommy Elliot)? jD001
That was an ok debut. Harley once again asserts herself as a villainess to be reckoned with who shouldn't be underrated by male villains. It's okay, but not really as intense as it was with the Joker. Spoiler Of course, I think we can see her inner darkness coming through when she decides to take over New Gotham. Poor Jim Gordon, though. Even his own cops turned on him. Hope he can make a comeback.
Divvying up Gotham like that gives me major Infamous/Saints Row vibes. Especially when Saints Row 3 had Killbane, a luchador-themed mob boss.
Harley Quinn Showrunners Reveal Which Villains They're Most Excited For In an interview, showrunners Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern spoke about their excitement over introducing a pair of classic villains into the season: Catwoman and Mister Freeze (the latter being voiced by Alfred Molina.) "In Season 1 it was this dance of, 'What can we get away with doing with these beloved characters? How can we use the heart and soul of these classic characters, some of which have been around for 80 years, and make them comedic without completely betraying their characters?'" Season 2 was more opportunities to do that." He said. Schumacker and Halpern were heavily influenced by Michelle Pfeiffer's take on Catwoman, and teased that the usually acerbic Poison Ivy was a fan of the feline fatale. "She has zero f-'s to give," he said, adding, "Harley's watching Ivy, like, melt in front of Catwoman because she's so f-ing cool. That was really fun to play with." "And with Mr. Freeze, we have Alfred Molina voicing him, which was just such an incredible experience getting to direct him and work with him. He walked in and just nailed it. The opportunity to play with the legend of Mr. Freeze and his origin story and his cryogenically frozen wife… how can we disrupt that story in a comedic way?" Schumacker noted that Harley will get to see the cryogenic villain in a new light, as well as his beloved wife Nora. Spoiler Hmmm, I wonder if Nora will awaken and go nuts. It'd be acceptable for this show to do something like that.
I liked Mr Freeze going: -"But, I am not into organized crime, I want to find a cure to save my wife!" -"And how do you fund that research?" -"...Through organized crime...?" I did not like the ending though... most of the first season this was a bloody but fun show but now it has gotten so that even big name characters are not death-proof anymore? I suspect this means Harley is gonna kill most of the rogue's gallery by the end of the season and I don't much like that. But yeah otherwise it is basically No Man's Land. Poor Gordon lost his force and even his wife, though (no Joker to kill her in this one, she just divorces him). I noticed we got Penguin's henchgirls from TNBA back, but here they were just regular waitresses. It's been a comic book story that came out before that game... Basically every major villain carved out a piece for themselves from Gotham after a plague and earthquake devastated it and the president at the time (Lex Luthor) declared it not part of the USA anymore. Dark Knight Rises also sort of adapted this story. No Man's Land - Gotham Archives
I'm aware of that, but the more cartoony depiction with the aesthetically-themed zones made it seem especially like the videogames I referred to.
New episode... Harley and Ivy go to Riddler, who's running a school, that's not really a school. Had better fun with King Shark and Psycho running around Gotham.
Well, finally I see a female character that's as bad as the Injustice League. Hope she gets her comeuppance. Still enjoying the subplots, this episode's Riddler subplot was hilarious.
Was it Spoiler Catwoman ? Cause she made her debut this episode, I got the email with her in a picture.
So I got DC Universe on Sunday so almost a week ago and after binging Justice League Unlimited in three days and The New Batman Adventures in two days (I know random order but that what I was in the mood for at the time) I started Harley Quinn tonight and am enjoying it but does anyone else have awful connection to this site. The videos stop constantly and I need to go to the lowest quality at times. I do not have any problems with Disney +, You Tube, Netflix, or any other side on my computer other than DC Universe loading. But yea this show is funny. I enjoy seeing Diedrich Bader play Batman again since he is my second favorite voice for the character after Conroy of course.
Eh I am worried about this season. First one was fantastic and was well rounded. It was refreshing having almost equal amounts of killing, female to male ratio. However so far I can’t really recall any females dying in season 2. I hope this isn’t a trend. It goes against what the themes of the show. Woman can make it and do what ever they want. But if there are no goons that are female then how are they expected to thrive and move up? It’s just falling into the same trappings of almost every single other show where only men die horrible deaths over and over and it’s getting tiring for countless years. Let’s hope there’s some changes coming soon.
Harley Quinn Series Heading to SYFY Season 1 in May. Odd choice. Especially since it'll have to be censored too (unless late night has unsensored shows/movies not sure).
I have no idea what you're talking about. The deaths in the show have been predominantly male, on account of there being far more male villains in general, and I think virtually all the henchmen in the show so far have also been male (outside of Penguin's showgirls, but none of them were involved in fisticuffs). That's just TV double-standards for you. As much as this show likes to push limits, there's still a major stigma around violence against women (not exactly unwarranted, mind), so almost all of the show's graphic brutality has been leveled against male characters. Violence against women has been comparatively brief (the worst, IIRC, being Harley's grandma).
Season 1 has a decent amount of female deaths (which is a lot compared to other shows). The hit woman who gets totally killed, the scene with the tree monsters looked to depict mostly female deaths which I was very surprised and delighted to see, to name just 2. So the difference has been very big from seasons.
