I think that officially kills any chance of the Switch ever being discounted for Black Friday.

Yeah, saw something about this earlier. Quite aggravating that people can get away with stuff like thus.

People help me pick out a game during this pandemic!
    • Astral Chain
    • Super Mario Maker 2
    • Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I need some action in my life, Animal Crossing is fun though.

Also the spring popped out of my Power A Gamecube controller. Any idea how to fix it? Link me any battery springs? It slipped out... and I can't find it. SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE!
This is my first third party controller.

:(  I have been watching the last 2 black fridays for discounted Switch. I really want one, but not for 300 bucks. And not the handheld only, I want to play some new Nintendo stuff on my TV.

As each of those games are very different, it's hard to suggest. If you enjoy Strategy RPGs, I suggest Fireemblem, should give you the most time considering the 3 playthroughs.

Super Mario Maker lets you play unlimited Mario Levels, some good, many bad.

Astral Chain is an excellent action game if you give it time to start unlocking the combat and don't play it on the easiest setting.

Okay, so they rip you off if you have paypal linked to Nintendo. Unlinked... guess I'll buy digital stuff with E-Shop cards from now on.

They have the nerve to ban your account if you report fraud because somebody else hacked your system and ripped you off? What the ever loving fuck. Nintendo, if somebody is hacking accounts and stealing money from people it isn't their fault, so banning the account doesn't stop the problem, it just pisses a lot of people off. What kind of fucked up policy is this that you can ban peoples accounts for reporting fraud? That is victim blaming if I've ever heard it.

Also, why do I need 2-step authentication through Google? Google isn't the paragon of safety here, they get hacked as well. And another thing why the fuck is 2step verification necessary? We supply all of our information when we register with these companies, our place of living, if somewhere outside of that box clear across the globe is accessing our account and it's a known hot spot of corruption and hacking then for fucks sake if we aren't registered as living there we should not be having stuff access our account there.

I don't have a smart phone, I refuse to own such a device. And I hear it's the only way to get these damn 2-step authentication codes ala text messages or something.

I like being informed on how to protect my identity, but for Christ's sake, it shouldn't be on me to keep my account information from being misused. At least not alone. These big companies are getting millions of dollars from people daily, they should fucking protect their damn customers from being ripped off, exploited and generally have revenue lost due to the fucked up nature of the beast. Every day billions of dollars are stolen from unsuspecting folks, and it's all because there are people out there with no morals.

Lites are still pretty easy to find here. I picked one up myself when the lockdown began.

Yeah, I'd been seeing some around here at times lately, though they'd been sold out on my recent random checks. Seen the Lite available on and off at some sites in the past 2 weeks, which didn't really help me as I'd been looking at getting the regular version.

Not sure where you're getting this stuff about banning. Only thing I can find anywhere is if you try to reverse/cancel charges without contacting Nintendo so they know it was fraudulent activity.

Also, sometimes people travel. If I were to travel to a "hot spot of corruption and hacking" for business or some other reason and decided to buy a game that came out digitally, I wouldn't want to be blocked from doing so. And I don't want to have to notify Nintendo (or Amazon, Google, Apple, or anyone else I might possibly buy digital products through for entertainment) about my travel plans for their OK. I already have to do that sometimes with my bank to use my card without issue, and that's enough of a pain.

As for the two-step authentication app, you can use other ones besides Google Authenticate. Nintendo just doesn't list the alternatives.

He somehow trusts Paypal.. but doesn't trust having a smart phone.

I do everything via e-shop cards. And since I'm a target red-card member.. I just buy the eshop codes from them and get them within 4 hours.

What are you talking about, the video I watched that was posted the guy clearly said Nintendo told him his account would be banned if he reported fraudulent activity to Paypal to reverse the charges caused by his Switch account being hacked. I am just basing it off of what I saw and was told in that video.

Feel free to do as you wish, but it is still your device you are using, these hackers are using your account on a different device as evidenced, again, by that video I watched some other member posted.

Trust Paypal? I trust it enough as a secure method of payment as I have not, to this date, in the almost three decades I've used it had any fraudulent activity occur with it. I am extremely careful as to where I shop or how I shop when it comes to using my Paypal account.

And trust has nothing to do with why I don't own a smartphone. I hate telephones in general, I hate cell phones even more, I don't like talking on regular phones and do it very infrequently often preferring to hold my conversations in person. I hate cell phones because you can be bothered anytime, anywhere, by anybody. Why should I pay to carry around a device that anybody can contact me on whenever the hell they feel like it? It's also expensive and irritating and a general nuisance with the ability to distract people twenty-four seven.

I don't like phones so I don't own one, period.

Ordinarily I wouldn't have linked paypal to my Switch, but it was a highly convenient feature and I happen to like the ease of use it allows, not having to go down to the store to get E-Points cards whenever I notice a sale going on. Not all of us can conveniently get a code within four hours after all.

Animal crossing update is live! You can download it now! I got a gift from both Nintendo and the bank in the mail and blathers told me he wants me to find art so he can add a second floor!

All things considered, given that there are tens of millions of subscribers, this could've been a lot worse. Still, prudence is... well, prudent.

From what I've been seeing and hearing around, it sounds like the issue was probably from reusing login credentials for NNID that had been leaked in unrelated breaches, as opposed to Nintendo themselves having been hacked to get the credentials. In which case the low numbers aren't that surprising to me.
