Off of the recent unfortunate news of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (PS4, Xbox One) Multiplayer servers being shut down, the remaining Transformers games have now received the same treatment. With Activision updating their website, it is with great sadness that we report Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) and Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark Multiplayer servers have been discontinued.

Transformers: War for Cybertron is a third-person shooter released June 22, 2010 on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC by High Moon Studios. The game chronicles the Autobot/Decepticon civil war on Cybertron, detailing the events prior to their arrival on Earth. It was a major milestone for the brand, with Transformers: War for Cybertron becoming both a critical and commercial success among fans and non-fans alike. To this day, the character designs and general aesthetic of Cybertron has had and continues to influence Transformers media.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is a third-person shooter released August 21, 2012 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC by High Moon Studios. It servers as a direct sequel to Transformers: War for Cybertron, revolving around the final days of the Great War on Cybertron as the Autobots make their last push to escape their dying homeworld. The game is generally regarded as one of the best if not the best Transformers game of all time. It is extremely iconic and is one of the greatest love letters to fans of the brand. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron also won an award for Best Sound Design in XPlay Best of 2012 Awards.

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is a third-person shooter released June 24, 2014 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, and Wii U by Edge of Reality. It acts as a sequel to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron while also crossing over with the Transformers: Age of Extinction film. The plot has the Autobots and Decepticons discovering an ancient Cybertronian artifact called the Dark Spark, the antithesis to the Matrix of Leadership. The Dark Spark has the ability to bend the very fabric of the universe and it's inhabitants to its will while also being able to travel through universes. The game wasn't very well received, with assets from previous titles being soullessly ported over with the inclusion of a very poor and controversial storyline. However, the Cybertron segments were praised.

And on a lasting note, offline functionality will remain playable.

An end of an era, Till All Are One :(

I should also mention, the Activision website is still updating in several regions, so you may not see the updated catalog until later. But for those who would like it, here's an image:

WFC and ROTF were my first online Transformers games I ever played.I had so many good memories with my Xbox friends on them especially ROTF since that's where I met most of them.FOC was so fun but disappointed that they could have add more characters like Sludge even though he died in the campaign.DOTM was ok but ROTDS was the worse game Activision made for consoles and PC.Sad to see these game go offline hopefully Certain Affinity show off there Transformers game besides on what is going on lately.

A damn shame. WFC and FOC were true greats.

I'm assuming this applies to WFC's campaign too, right? Or is that P2P (or does that even make a difference)?

You will be able to access single player campaign as just before. But CO-OP campaign will no longer work.

If Activision weren't such turds and gave people the option to host their own servers for games with online features, I'm sure some people would happily pay so they could keep playing these games.

I'm not a fan of this precedent, how content will become forever lost because the company pulls the plug for whatever reason. Now yeah the offline stuff is still there, but trophies are basically forever locked out to you as well as any content connected to the online functionality. Last year or so I got into the Gravity Rush series, and while the first game isn't really effected, the second game had a pretty sizeable online portion that could allow you to unlock some outfits and such, but since the servers were shut down like a year after the games release (Some hilariously short amount of time), that content is just gone unless you hack it into the game. It's pretty depressing when you think about it.

The TF games they produced aren't award-winning or anything but they were fun, and I'm sure some fans would be willing to pay a bit to keep some servers up for people to continue playing into the future.

This truly saddens me....I’ve met many great online friends through rotf and WFC’s multiplayer that I still to this day 10 years later talk and game with. War for cybertron was a game that truly brought me happiness as a young teen and immersed me in the transformers world in a way that would just keep me coming back for more every day. Cheers to the end folks :rip  :cry

War for Cybertron was the game where I played with some incredible people and made friends on. It was such a blast hopping online with friends and beating the opposite team. Same with Fall of Cybertron, both games are truly worthy of the Transformers name. Rise of the Dark Spark I don\'t really care about it because of how it craps on the legacy of the Cybertron games. Activision, I hope you get a huge amount of hate for what you have taken from us.

I’ll add this to this thread to. We need to push for them to allow us to host games ourselves. These games die when we stop trying. We have to push on and figure a way around the wall. If we can’t go around it, go through it. Mods, messing with its code. Anything to keep it going.

I remember playing the Cybertron games quite fondly and I enjoyed every single second, minute and hours of both of them and it saddens me that the idiots at Activision have shut down the main thing that keeps the players coming back for more. It goes to show that people like Activision have little respect for us Transformers fans and only care about the money. So Activision after the stunt you\'ve pulled on us I have just 1 thing to say to you, get scrapped!

Activision are the worst; they close great studios like Luxoflux and stop other developers like Beenox and High Moon from developing original games or passion projects.

My brother, my kids and I spent years battling away in Escalation WFC. They all grew up and went their separate ways but this was one place we still always had a way to get together online and have some great memories and fun.

    This really FUCKING SUCKS.

I loved playing the multiplayer for these games, and it will be missed. To be honest, though, I assumed that it got turned off a few years ago.

I'm not going to go and claim that WFC/FOC were on par with the Batman Arkham games (few games are), but the love and care High Moon Studios put into a licensed game was certainly on a similar level. You could really tell from the BTS footage and interviews with the dev team how much went into these games, and the production quality really showed in the finished product.

I fondly remember getting a friend who does not care about Transformers at all hooked on WFC because of how well it was made and fun it was to play.

It's a shame on a couple of fronts - that it's unclear when or if we'll see Transformers video games of this quality again, that High Moon is an empty shell nowadays, that WFC/FOC never got a proper Part Three (ROTDS was a low budget mess), and that these quality games have been essentially permanently retired (delisted from digital storefronts and multiplayer shut off).
