    Ew.

I was looking forward to a G2 version of Ramjet, but not if he looks like that. Rare design misfire from Magic Square.

They’d be fine if we didn’t already have NA. Give us the rest of the Datsuns already!!

They look stubby, but I like them. More the merrier.

Damn. That's disappointing. That's a big no because of those weird wing things. Guess my Pocket Toys coneheads live on, whereas the first three seekers went to The Box the other day...

I started an MS > NA guy
I'm becoming an NA > MS guy more and more every release.

And obviously IF is my Masterpiece - if they started in on G1...

The wings remind me of the way IF has theirs. I don't know why they'd swing them out like that for display. It's not something I would want to do. I'd fold them in as tight as I could.

In the end having those parts of the wings upstairs is their choice over folding them in somewhere else.

Is this really that much better?

I don't find MST awful but I ended up going with NewAge for the seekers. I ordered MST first and then got the wrong thing entirely and since people were reporting the MST seekers were inconsistently floppy and hard to tab in, I decided to cast my lot with NA seekers and got a refund and purchased them instead. So even though the MST Coneheads don't bother me I doubt I'd get them even if they turn out to be better. The size difference would be a bit much.

I guess I'll end up sticking with the Pocket Toys KO i have of the DX9 figures for my G1 Coneheads. I don't love them but there aren't a lot of options (so far). Or maybe I'll decide that my IF Coneheads will fit in. I have plenty of IF figures already mixed in. LOL

It's an odd choice, but I guess the saving grace is that the wing positioning is really exaggerated in these renders.

The bits behind their shoulders are on swivels, so those wing sections won't have to be flared out as far from the body as in the renders, and can be left closer to their bodies.

Couple that with having the leg sections folded back on their hinges further, and they'll probably look much better.

Thrust will be the tough one.

Both solutions are lacking to me. Up top is odd, folded all kibble like behind the wing is not great. There's not a set of G1 Coneheads that really nails it for me personally. It's awesome that there are choices though. And who knows, maybe there will be someone else entering the fray with more designs for these figures. I think my PT ones will have to do for the G1 cartoon version. They are far from great but they are sitting here already. LOL But I will wait and see what MST does with the actual product. Even though they won't scale well with my NewAge jets, I might be moved to go for them depending on how the actual figures turn out.

the wings are a huge misstep in my book. i wish MS had someone in the company that could be a sound voice of judgment.

but either way get the bots out and move us one step closer to soundwave and his minions.

The way NA folds those parts down may be odd, but at least it doesn’t kill the silhouette like these do.

Any chance they actually do fold back, but they’re just not utilizing it here?

Edit: just looked at pics of the protos backside, it would appear not.

Absolutely. That's not much different than what DX9 and MS did with the seeker wings. It's not visible from the front at all.

Maybe they just hired Hasbro's product photographers lol.

Still not seeing anything that makes me feel compelled to replace my DX9 versions. Really wish Magic Square would get back to the Autobot cars. We've got three different conehead teams (more, counting KOs), but nobody's made a damn G1 aesthetic Hound or Sunstreaker yet.

Not in my opinion but I may well be the minority and that wouldn't surprise me at all. I don't like either version especially. I did purposefully pick Dirge because I think his is the worst. Since it can't fold flat it basically just looks like a huge ornament dangling over the back. My basic thought on the Coneheads is they always seem to be an afterthought figure. Rather than a decent mold they get shoehorned into whatever decisions were made to make the main three look decent. In this case, the main three the tail fin kibble folds away into the legs. The coneheads meanwhile, there's no clever way found to do this. It's just there. And MST is looking to be going the same route of not going the extra mile for these guys.

I have more sentimentality attached to them because I had the Coneheads as a kid and skipped Starscream and company because even then I thought they looked bad. So i'd like a set of them I consider more than passable one day. So far my IF ones which, of course, aren't G1, are the only ones of them I like. I have the PT/Dx9 and basically they just live on their flight stands. I never touch them. Whereas most of my figures I pick up fairly often.

    Ehhh...

Magic Square has been on a bit on a downward spiral recently.

Their seekers are questionable but Reflector and Megatron look okay. Soundwave, the tapes, the Stunticons, and Menasor all look great. I wouldnt call one iffy mold and variants a spiral.
