I can’t even tell the Core Gundam variants apart in that intro aside from colour and that one had a rifle and another a cannon.

Core Gundam would be a lot cooler if the armours were more distinct and weren’t so same in shape and aesthetics. They all more or less achieve the same personality and proportions.

I thought I saw the tradtional Rx-78 weapons in there behind Core Mk2. What's also a nice touch is the trap mines and weapon equipmenr he used in the earlier episodes that aren't tied to the Planet Systems.

Hold on, After Colony/Wing somehow also leads into Correct Century/Turn A? I mean, sure, it's weird enough with how the others get in there (UC because of course even though Recon. in G doesn't make any sense in the timeline because SUDDENLY SPACE ELEVATORS, After War/Gundam X is basically the worst case scenario of the One Year War except ironically far more upbeat and optimistic, and Future Century is only in there specifically because for whatever reason part of the Black History data dump included - of all things - Nether/Hurricane Gundam's blueprints.), but is Wing getting lumped in there because it was also a 90s series?

I like to think of Core Gundam in the function of a rifle with a rail system more than any new model. In that the overall shape and silhouette won't be much different but its purely functional in it's modularity.

Code Gundam's gimmick isn't as much of a transformation as it is a kit swap, like if I were to swap the CQB optic on my rifle for a long range scope and bipod.

Or, it's kind of like the closest thing to a 30mm kit that's an official Gundam, since on 30mms you can swap EVERYTHING more or less.

Yeah Tomino wanted all the AUs made after Victory to be considered part of Turn A Gundam's Correct Century. Arguably it could be said that there are three continuities in Gundam; Universal Century, all separate alternate timelines (FC, AC, AW), and then the one universe of all timelines merged (UC, FC, AC, AW) in Turn A Gundam's Correct Century.

Have you ever watched Turn A Gundam? There was that weird scene where Corin Nander (in Turn-A Gundam), suddenly has a memory flashback/PTSD of seeing the Wing Zero pop up before him. I like to think that since he's been in cryo sleep for so long that he was probably in the After Colony period as Leo grunt pilot #4824729 that survived getting spammed by Heero. :lol
Its been awhile since I rewatched Turn A, but there was the Turn X being able to use the Shinning Finger move. There's quite a bit of subtle connections made to G, Wing, X throughout the show,

    Spoilers I guess?
and by the end when the cast enters The Dark History room near the end of series, there they find "recordings" of every event that happened in the past; One Year War, Neo Zeon Wars, Gundam Fights, Mariemaia's Uprising, 7th Space War etc.

And IIRC, right after Gundam SEED came out it, the Dark History was retconned (by Sunrise I think) to include the Cosmic Era too now.

All continuities...except the Universal Century that branches off into G-Savior.

A future so awful even the Dark History wanted absolutely no part of it. That is the power of the Dark History - it has the ability to render time itself non-canon.

No Sunrise put out another short video for Gundam's 40th Anniversary that implies Turn A is still technically Canon, even with the expanse of the franchise since then.

In case you didn't know, "TURN A" means the "The Universal Quantifier for the sum of all."
    Universal quantification - Wikipedia

Say what you will it just means G-Saviour is the only irreplaceable timeline and you know it!!!

    20200214_223537.jpg

It was so bright and awesome the Dark History didn't register it!!!

    20200214_223549.jpg

Look at it!!! Admire the glorious rendering of 1990s CGI technology!!! Rendered three times faster than the T-Rex from Michael Crichton's Carnosaur!!!

I really hate when Turn A's Moonlight Butterfly is rendered as static, literal butterfly wings like the effects parts. They weren't actual wings, they were the nanomachines being spewed out uncontrollably in a wave, constantly flowing without a distinct shape. It vaguely resembled butterfly wings, not literally. Also, they seem to have forgotten that the Turn A can't reach enough power to destroy Earth's technology alone. The Turn A and Turn X need to be working together, one supplying the nanomachines and the other the power source, to even hope to spread the effects beyond their immediate surroundings. (also, Moonlight Butterfly reaches almost all the way to Saturn, not just Earth's orbit)

I kinda hate how generic trashy anime Gundam becomes after the fact, just because EW gave the Zero actual angel wings, now every continuity has that one important suit with big, flapping energy wings because robots with angelic wings are o-so-epic. Can't wait for Barbatos to get energy wings in some cheap one-off animation.

Gundam can be really stupid sometimes.

Nah, as much as IBO kinda really screwed up in the last stretch, it at least did "winged" robots right. The only one with actual wings was Bael which made sense in so far as the whole "angelic theme" (not so much in the "but its named after the king of demons" sense).

Barbatos? Barbatos fully embraced the demon angle - it didn't get wings, it got fucking claws and a "Stab the shit out of you" pointy tail thing. And that was after it beat the absolute living fuck out of a beam spamming winged robot actually named after an angel.

    :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Nice video. I like the inclusion of Shakti's quote about humanity.

Its been a long while since I last watched Turn A Gundam, but IIRC wasn't it due to the Turn A and Turn X clashing each other that led to the spread of the nanomachines wiping out all of technology from Earth to Jupiter?

I blame G Gundam. :lol  After having a God and Devil themed Gundams (and a lot of campy stuff) in G, Gundam Wing was stuck carrying over with the funky motifs. Doesn't help that the main mechanical designer for all the 1st generation AU Gundam series was Okawara ripping off of himself each year, each project. He pretty much ran out of ideas. :lol

Yes and no, they're designed to work together, the Turn A being built from the Turn X. They did clash, as they did again at the end of the series, and activated by themselves.

That's why I prefer "Dark" and "Burning" Gundam. Especially since Burning feels more appropriate as an upgrade to a suit called "Shining."

I think you mis-understood me. I'm exaggerating by pointing out how stuff like the Moonlight Butterfly gets reduced to Turn A T-posing for dominance with big flamboyant wings when it was originally this out of control, beautiful-yet-horrible energy that spread like a maelstrom.

At the same time it also basically ruins the name of the show "G Gundam" as in "God Gundam". Not only is it silly censorship, it basically makes the "G" in the title kinda pointless...

Nobody referred to the God Gundam as G Gundam in the original dub of the show, though.

Given that Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam, V Gundam, Gundam Wing, and Gundam X were all show titles that referred to the main Gundam of of their respective series I see no reason why G Gundam was not intent to follow suit, it makes no sense otherwise.
