While I love the figure... I really do think a third party should create a new head so he can become an original character. Maybe something like Bulldog's head from The Last Knight. Because the only thing making him Bumblebee is the head. I love both modes and I'm fine with him being a Hearts of Steel/Centurion figure but I wouldn't say no to the toy being a brand new figure.
Found one today and brought it home. I like it more than I expected to. I was afraid of the ‘rubbery’ plastic I read about and was pleased that there wasn’t any. The panels are thin and will flex but they are definitely rigid plastic. Only issue on mine is the loose hips, which I fixed by removing the legs, heating the sockets with hot water and pinching them with a pliers, then immediately cooling them with cold water. Perfectly tight now. Love the hammer, love the revolver and I even love that this is Bee. It’s refreshing to see him as something else besides a yellow car.
He falls apart transforming him due to all the clipped on pieces. It sucks because otherwise it's a great figure.
Are you swinging those clipped pieces out to the side? If so they will come off. They're only supposed to swing inwards after being unpegged.
Why have I never thought about doing this with loose ball joints before? I tried this last night on my Bee and it worked perfectly. Much better than using something like Future polish.
Right? I read about that method somewhere on the boards a while back (don’t remember who posted it) and this was my first time trying it. Hopefully it’s a longer lasting solution than nail polish and floor polish.
My Walmart finally stocked this guy. I was on-the-fence since I heard mixed reviews, but I decided to get him. I'm really glad I picked him up, I actually really like this figure. Despite the backpack, the figure has some nice detailing. This is probably the nicest Bumblebee face sculpt I've ever seen. I also really like aspects of the transformation. My figure has a few issues. There are some loose joints (mainly the hips), and some tabbing issues. Mainly the hammer storage. But it's nowhere near as bad as the monstrosity that is Deluxe Beetle Bee (I really wish we could have a re-do of that design). Would I recommend this figure? It really depends on what you're looking for. I personally love unusual Transformers figures, I don't really collect the usual ones people look forward to, like Barricade, Sideswipe, and whatnot. This is right up my alley. But if you want a more "definitive Bumblebee" figure, you'd probably be better off going after something like the '70s Camaro Bee. This is by no means the greatest Bumblebee ever, but I think it's solid for what it is.
Like the look of this and had a gift card so I grabbed it. Uh....it looks cool(I liked WW2 bee in TLK) but...this figure is too damn small to integrate the design ideas that went into it(another reason why I think Studio Series scaling shot itself in the foot by starting with deluxes this small, they should've been bigger! And everything else to scale accordingly). As a result, this figure has compromised stability. Cannon is off center in car mode. Why, I don't know. Maybe it needs finnagling but the clearance is minimal. It relies on short tabs for all the panels to connect or at least try in vehicle mode. In robot mode, the shoulder tabs barely tab into the chest plate slots. If not for reliance on tabs and offset cannon, the transformation to car mode is actually fun...until you start to try to tab it all together to close the gaps(wonder if the same guy who designed MPM-4 designed this?). Transformation to robot mode is more fun. Articulation is decent, yay waist swivel! Upper body is tight, lower body is loose. Glad to see pins and rivets in numerous places. Really dig the sculpt and deco but this could've been a lot better.
Well, I'm glad I came to this thread. I was just about ready to write this thing off as a load of shite. Repinned the hammer the right way around, which indeed makes a world of difference. Also, sliding the thigh tabs sideways into the forearm slots works, whereas trying to push them in from above really doesn't. Now the roof lays prettymuch flat and most of everything else behaves itself. The flap on the rear of the vehicle takes a bit of force to tab in either side, but now stays there (as long as I don't prod it too much). The panels on the sides kind-of stay in place. There's like double tab sets in there each side which don't want to play nice. It's doable enough that the vehicle mode looks okay, but I might shave down one set of the double tabbing so they don't disagree with each other. Not really spent any time with the robot mode as I took the figure out of the box and immediately set to converting it to alt mode. I did notice the legs were a bit floppy though, so I'll have to fix those. Is it just me or does the plastic quality on this guy feel a bit cheap? The molding lacks a certain crispness and the plastic is kinda waxy.
I've got a mini screwdriver set with about twenty different heads. A couple of the heads are hole punches so I used one of those and a tack hammer to knock out the pin and then put it back in after. Normally I don't risk messing with pins but the plastic of this part is a softer type not likely to crack. Barely a five minute task, but it made such a difference. If you've not got any punches then a thin nail might do the job. At least to get it started.
Just did this swap on the hammer pin, Thanks for this. Not sure how this slipped past me. Now it fixes the alt mode. straight barrel, and tabs in.
Not sure how I missed this fix. I check a bunch of websites everyday, this being one of them, and im most active in this feedback thread..I must have never looked at this thread again after being disappointed by this one. The cannon being crooked was SO wrong..its amazing how someone can figure out it was put together wrong, show us a fix, and it changes your opinion of a figure 100%. After doing the hammer fix, I love this figure WAY more than I ever did. So much so I went crazy and repainted it. WWII bee is now fixed..and its a good mold.
Bumping this because I just got one and mine definitely has this problem as well and judging from my skim through the thread we're the only two that had this problem. Did you find any way to fix it through the years? edit: Decided to put a bit of super glue on the tips of the arm pegs and let them dry. I put them on and now it pegs fine.
