Check the third party forums. I had similar qualms to you (self-applied stickers, mold stability, etc) and I'm going to be applying several third party upgrade kits to it, mostly meant for PotP Optimus.

Ah. His chest is facing up. Similar silhouette. Replace the backpack accessory and chest snd it's still a serviceable bot and vehicle frame.

Hasbro could probably justify a new mold for Grandus if someone points out how easily they can remold it into Tor the Carrier Zord for their power rangers line

Yeah, I getcha, and I agree, I do enjoy when they do subtle changes to a male figure to make it a bit more feminine while keeping the overall look, which was especially well-done with MP Road Rage. I just also like when they just do a headswap and leave the body as-is. I like having both. (I also like it when they take female figures and redeco/retool them to be male characters, like Adventure Greejeeber.)
Speaking of Strongarm... Kinda hoping they do a Selects one using the Siege Hound mold.

 

Even with the height difference, gotta say, Super Megatron and Star Convoy look pretty good next to each other. Megatron has enough horizontal width, and enough weapons bristling off of him, that he still looks pretty threatening in comparison to bigger, doofier-looking Star Convoy.

 

I was thinking less of the orange (fair observation, though) and more of the all-blue forearms.

It might be observed that Japan DID release a recolor of the AM figure that was more G1-accurate, but I'd still want to see more evidence before calling the smaller robot an AM-Prime homage. Like you said, I think it's just meant to evoke G1 Prime powering up to Star Convoy.

 

Not a bad choice other than that Legends Godbomber is a shitshow Transformer. Any retooling would need to also redo all the tolerances.

I'm standing by TR PM Prime. Just redo the cab to be a head, treads and a cavity box so the vehicle mode is primarily the trailer retooled into an aircraft carrier.

After getting a nicely sized Greatshot, I wouldn't want a tiny Sky Garry to pair with him.

 

Again, keeping with Battlestars scale ideas, he'd be way too small. The other problem is that likely a lot of those super mode parts are gang molded with Shockwave, which would mean either a lot of waste or a lot more retooling then what Takara could afford.

Wow, I never even thought of PM Prime. From a google image search, it looks like he may even be the perfect size heightwise.

 

They’re good and reliable, they ship from China, which is a bummer currently but I’d say if you want him get him at that price and don’t wait. Sure the shipment will be delayed but at least you’ll get him

 

Not surprised because it's Galvy but was hoping they'd make him a little taller (sorta like how Astrotrain and Shockwave had optional boots) This doesn't make me not want to get Super Megs at all.. still fully onboard ...but I'm not going to pick up Star Convoy.. I was considering if they looked really good next to each other.

 

Why don't they just repurpose the cardboard box that the Super Megatron assortments come in as Grandus.

Why don't you do that and then write in your concept to Takara? Heck, you can have all of my King Poseidon boxes to make him extra thicc.  

 

ok... look good but the size difference is too much for me. Star Convoy was also a difficult sell for me and that would've made the difference.

I think Omega Supreme could be a good skeleton for Grandus, his inate modularity and general transformation lend themselves to new/alternative parts. Remove the tank component, arms, wings and you have a good base to build him out of.

Mentally remove the tracks, tank and rocket....
