Out of boredom I decided to rearrange my detolf's today. Only to be horrified when I got to Transmetal Cheetor.

    20200412_181133.jpg
I know this an issue with the Transmetal figures, but its still heartbreaking because I got this guy sealed in the box 4yrs ago. And its the Takara version, which kinda makes it suck even more. :(

I'm tempted to seek out another one, but idk.

    That sucks dude!
The only figure I've ever had this issue with was BM Ultra Jetstorm.

I'd say hunt down a new figure as your chances are pretty good at getting one without issues.

That really sucks. I'd always heard the Takara versions were supposed to be better about those flaking issues.

Yeah, thats why I went with a Takara version to replace my childhood one, but apparently not. My Transmetal Primal, Megatron, and Rhinox are also Takara versions and they're fine though. I'll probably look for another Cheetor, doesn't need to be Takara.

So. I bought a Takara Metals Cheetor last year I think and noticed the same thing (it was opened).
I just wanted the variant... I already had the Kenner. The gold on the Takara is different from the Kenner so maybe it's the hue of it or something. I know some vac metal colors supposedly flakes worse than others. But it's always such a bummer regardless of the release :(

My TM Cheetor is fine, but my TM2 Cheetor had the flakes. The absolute worst "transmetal rust" from my collection was Botcon Shokaract... I was devastated when I went to handle it and it looked like it had pooped a pile of blue glitter... the crab-ass had lost it all, completely gray across this huge patch.

I'll have to rewatch this, probably in early summer once I finish BWII, Neo and Car Robots.

When I 1st watched it, I couldn't stand it. But a lot of that disdain came from the toys. That giant Nightscream and the first Primal with the clear plastic thumbs....argh!!

Telemocha Tigatron. Man, this Telemocha line are a hell of a lot more expensive and rare than the original Japanese releases.

Just checked my metals Cheetor. He has a small flake at the collar. I know I had one that flaked much worse, but I don't remember it now. Might've also been tm2.

...my beast wars figures were in storage in their original packaging for about sixteen years: when i took them out, my original red transmetal rattrap had suffered catastrophic chrome-peeling, but my blue walmart repaint still looked as perfect as the day i boxed them away...

...i've no idea why some figures fare so terribly while others do fine...

We’re sure it’s not a heat issue? Or maybe humidity?

I have my Rampage and Botcon Shokaract displayed in the same room and area. My Rampage's chrome is still great. Shokaract's has been flaking and cracking for years :( .

My Transmetal Rattrap and Rampage both suffered from flaking several years ago. I ended up repainting them with a metallic model paint I found to approximate the chrome look. None of my other figures have had any problems.

I'm actually kinda thinking of doing this with Cheetor. But the upper back is held together by pins, which I don't know how to remove. I'd much rather take it apart and spray it instead of brushing it, as it'll be less prone to scratching and chipping.
