Transformation from planet to robot seems just as fun and intuitive as going from robot to planet.

    My only real gripes:

    1) Lots of reviewers pointing out that the ‘spiky bits’ on the planet’s surface are easily snapping off, which seems a bit of a design flaw. Looks like I’ll have to treat this toy with kid gloves.

    2) I don’t really like the way that the leg slider just gets locked into place with two tabs made of (notoriously brittle) transparent plastic. That’s a lot of stress to put on two little clear plastic tabs - I wonder about how long they’ll last.

Other than that, this looks fantastic, and it’s undoubtedly a superb piece of engineering. I just worry about the materials.

A really great and detailed review that shows us the transformation from globe to bot. This guy is almost like the Chinese EMgo with how he shows every step of the transformation and how everything tabs together. I probably would have figured it out myself if I hadn't been such a dunce and paid more attention to the previous vids and I would have spared myself som dozen euros.
Oh well, compared to Haslab Unicron I'll still save about six hundred euros.

those spiky bits really ought to be flexible plastic or rubber to withstand the bending. otherwise, i’m still amazed at the transformation, and will wait for final reviews before i bite.

I think I'd prefer to take my chances and be really careful with hard plastic, than worry about the softer plastics potentially crumblnig in a few years, like the mustache on KFC's Crashhog.

Hard plastic can crumble in a few years as well. All plastic breaks down at some point. Odds are, the plastic on these will outlast most of the people here.

So is the advertised 45cm height underrated? POTP Predaking is supposed to be 18" (45.7cm). But this photo without the head would suggests that Core Star will be taller at the head (and even more so with the horns) than Predaking.

depends on where they put the tape on the measurement.

but it could also be that the chinese are fucking horrible at early measurement numbers that hit vendors.

I think the issue is they get measurement numbers from their CAD software that says it will be 45 cm, but then when it hits the factory and molding/tooling and they have to start making parts, things change as the factory has to retool stuff, and until the full thing can be built and measured, you dont get a final exact measurement. Then other times (like m09 from weijiang) their initial CAD model is 33 cm, and when they start meeting with the factory they settle down and decide on 30cm instead. So the height is between 11.8 inches and 12.6 inches.

Option c is always 'they suck at measuring', but with CAD they should still have a ballpark estimate for height.

It’s a bit iffy to accuse the Chinese race as being bad at measuring when those weights and sizes are only ever intended to be rough ballparks for shipping purposes.

It’s only when western fans take those dimensions and fixate upon them (i.e scale nuts) that it ever becomes an issue.

I’d also very surprised if Predaking was *exactly* 18” tall. But if a westerner gets the sizes slightly wrong, they get a pass...

I think you are misinterpreting what he said. He didnt say Chinese people as a whole can't measure, just that their early estimates are sometimes a bit off from final product, which happens everywhere honestly. My wife is an engineer and her sales department will often promise one thing, and it is 100% not what they are designing. I can point to at least 10+ different 3rd party toys at the moment that have changed in size by 0.5-3cm from the time of their initial unveiling, up to their release. And like others have said, it depends on where you measure to, top of the head, horns, wings, etc. Go look at showzstore, a lot of figures have a completely different heights than what is eventually released, and its just down to the initial info is ballpark and until it clears the factory they dont have an exact size.

Looking at the photo, it is in an somewhat wide A stance, its 44.5 cm to the head, if i had to guess, closing the legs up a bit would take you to 45 cm, but then you get into issues with the feet 'stepping on their own toes'. Top of the horns is just shy of 47cm (47.5 with legs closed up). Top of the wing is 47.5 (48 with legs closed)

Also you are right on predking, based on those photos hes about 17" to the top of his head. A whole inch off.
