Great points, but the majority of people are never in the position to experience the thing first hand, even if they're alive at the time. If everyone who claimed to be at the first Sex Pistols gig was actually there they would have sold out Wembley Stadium.

I guess television is the great equalizer in that regard, but for every moon landing or Berlin Wall event there seems to be more dead Princess Diana, 9/11, JFK, RFK, Gulf War Live with a soundtrack type events. Unless watching Robbie Williams sing Angels at Glasto was really that epoch defining. ;)

There was an HBomberguy video a while back over the power of VHS versus remastered digital versions of films, and it made a good point regarding the original Alien, where something lurking in the shadows used to be a lot more indistinct and scary, while today you can tell what is and isn't xenomorph more easily. Still, overall we've gained a lot more than we've lost in the intervening three decades.

But to me while I look back at the 90s and remember comfort, enthusiasm and optimism, it really was a false ideal. As I say, all the problems in the world were just being pushed to one side by the USA and Britain (though I will give the Major and Blair governments all the props in the world for achieving the Good Friday Agreement, that was genuinely something special), and they came home to roost in the following decade. A bit like the 1920s, the 90s and their optimism now feels like we were living on borrowed time. 9/11 revealed just how bad the 90s had been, while both politics and society had had their heads in the sand.

I will draw a line at Lightsteed, I think that was a redeco too far. But otherwise yes, it was a great mould and went a long way. At the time I regretted not getting Smokescreen from it, but I'm over that now with the Siege version of the guy.

Yeah, I'm not too fussed. I can live without it. Though it would have been good to have a stand to make them into a gun emplacement like the G1 toys all came with. A shield, a rifle and a plug thingy, free accessories with every purchase? We didn't know we were born...

Does seem like a prime target for 3P accessory makers like Nonnef or Matrix Workshop.

    Anyway, here's some Terrorcons.

Your G1 Jetfire is in amazing condition! Definitely the best Jetfire to date. The transformation on that guy is so innovative and both modes are ace. awww I want one!

Lightsteed was the one I wanted the most. Not to be Lightspeed, it's terrible especially after Takara pointed out the Wheeljack mode works pretty well. But he's a small paintjob/headswap away from a sweet Red Alert. The smokescreen I wasn't keen on because of the molded in sirens.

@Liokaiser1989 I used to love the Robotmasters line! I had those guys, and screamer too.

Thanks guys, yes, I got lucky and managed to snag a nice minty white one a few years back when I was just getting back in to g1. I think I paid £80 although some of the accessories are marked up.

The guy I got it from told me a story of how he took it into school and his dad made him put his details on all the accessories so they knew who they belonged to, should they go astray. Thankfully, all the parts are marked up in innocuous places that are not obvious or on show in either mode.

Naturally, I’d rather these markings were not there but I thought it was a compromise I was prepared to accept to own such an otherwise nice example.

For now though, he is getting packed up once more.

    Gorgeous.

My Boy hasn't weathered as well, even though he's been in a display cabinet for the last 25 years the yellowing happened anyway. But it's the one G1 Vintage Lad I will never be without.

......and as it's on the sunny side today, back on display he goes.

    Happy Easter people.

The bone white is a less of an issue for me, as at least he'll match Apeface. I'm not fond of the derpy dinosaur head, which looks worse than the original (which wasn't bad considering it doubled as the robot head ). Also, it looks like the dinosaur can be only be posed as a tail-dragger, rather the more modern T-Rex posture with the tail horizontal, which ironically the original could do.

Anyway, I preordered despite my reservations since Snapdragon was easily my most favourite G1 toy.

Well shit. I woke up today determined that I was at last going to have a go at the mods for RID Bumblebee I've been thinking about for years. But in all that time I hadn't ever tried transforming him with the new head. The back panel doesn't close. Those earmuffs on the sides of CW Ironhide's head get in the way of the grey struts that move the panel.

So decision time. Do I sand the earmuffs off and risk making it look really scruffy? Or try and sand away the inside of the struts, which is awkward and hard to reach?

I had a Snapdragon from a car boot sale as a kid. Predictably it had no head. I was fond of it nonetheless. As for the accuracy of the alt mode... well, I always saw it more as a Godzilla-type thingy than an actual dinosaur.

Has anyone received any messages or deliveries from TFS-Express recently? I tried sending them an email last week for an ETA on Overbite and Tentakil (which I paired with Nautilator and Seawing) but I got no response. Anyone been in touch?

All the pics of G1 Jetfire just highlight how I've never gotten a DX VF1 yet. Definitely a glaring omission.

However...this is the best modern VF1 figure one could get. So at least that's something!

    Happy Easter folks!

I contacted them last week to change my delivery address for Overbite/Tentakil and they got back to me quite quickly.

I also received an invoice for FT Sheridan the other day as well.

MAFEX Cyclops was released in Asia yesterday so I'll probably begetting an invoice from Curibo shortly!

The figure looks great...Hasbro have been trying a bit harder with weapon/power effects of late but Medicom's are just better. Really intrested to see what they do for Magneto's effects not to mention a proper reveal of the figure.

Cyclops isn't one of my favourite X-Men but this figure's bloody good and I'm still looking forward to it...if anybody wants the Marvel Legends figure from the recent 3-pack let me know as I have one that's only been out the package once.

Discovered a new add on for Fire Pro Wrestling World yesterday and it's expensive but a bit good as they've basically released the development kit for custom edit parts to the public so it's now possible to make even more accurate looking representations of characters as literally everything from faces, hairstyles, face paint, masks and all related attire and designs as well as tattoos and title belts can be made from scratch which takes the game's already impressive customisation to a whole new level :)

Got a pic from my pal Rick in the States that appears to show a Character Options Romana V1 figure which will presumably be a part of their next set of releases via B&M Bargains. It's very half arsed as most of it is an old Primeval figure so the costume isn't very accurate but the headsculpt looks OK and it's another Tom Baker era companion so I guess it's still cool, just a shame this line declined to the point where all they do is retools with the occasional new headsculpt.

Hope everybody here has a Happy Easter!
