You might want to have a tissue or towel near you to wipe off all the factory grease.

Both copies I encountered had copious amounts of it that I had to wipe off.

I like both figures, too. Wardog's tank mode is awesome.

would have made a good looking smaller chug figure! one of the reasons i never bought it , was waiting for one to look like what fanstoys have done and the same same with badcubes brawn vs what ft have done , 2 of my favourite transformers that i wouldn't just settle for whatever was out there

Can you clarify why Wardog is a CHUG figure all of a sudden?

 

I guess this is just Fans Toys's thing, huh? I had to wipe quite a lot of grease off of Roadking, and after all that my hands still feel a little slippery after handling him. That's very frustrating, because I want to be able to play around with my expensive toys without having to go wash my hands after.

 

Probably just mold release agent not cleaned properly by QC23 or whoever

It always has been. Chug is a more stylised version of any g1 character, MP is more slavish to the toy/toon. I thought that was common knowledge at this point?

Ergo. Neither the toy or toon were like the hulk, ergo it's very much stylised version of the character. You can guess where this is going.....

I even tried to shoehorn him in back in the day but it never looked right and so he was sold. In robot mode I might add. Fuck that transformation.

It's a shame BC went awol though, they were finally starting to get the MP aesthetic with Sideswipe and Red Alert.

 

Oh, I was under the impression that it's a VERY generous amount of lubricant for the joints, and some spots where pieces might run against each other (to protect the paint). Could be all of those things, for all we know.

I'm not aware of many (if any) TFs that utilize lubricant, since most joints are friction joints and the last thing you'd want is one of those becoming loose and losing the ability to hold a pose properly as a result. And if they do, it's going to be relegated very carefully to only the specific joint that needs it, to minimize the chance it migrates into a friction joint. Usually a surface contaminant is a mold release agent that wasn't cleaned up properly by assembly or packing team, or perhaps a weather protectant for metal parts shipped by ocean freight but that's more common on firearms, vehicles, other large objects that don't tend to have the amount of protection and enclosure around them that these little figures do.

 

Think I need to hunt for a plastic model to add battle damage in order to recreate this scene
