I'm thinking this is definitely one of the possibilities. I mean we already got the toon version for Megatron, and the previous Soundwave isn't really that far different from his toy/toon version in terms of coloring, but his comic coloring is different enough for a redeco.

Please not another Siege Megatron reuse. My local Walmart is still stuffed to the gills with the wave 1 Siege and the 35th cell-shaded Megatrons. The Netflix edition is probably just going to add to that pile.

It could be another take on Botcon 2016's Red BW Megatron. Doubledealer might work for that with a new robot head and a dragon head in place of DD's Vulture mode. There were a few red BW Megatrons and it was BW's Megs' pre-Predacon color scheme, right?

 

eh, it was only his pre bw color scheme in a shit comic that is incompatible canon with beast wars. generally speaking, pre bw megatron had the same colors as season 1 megatron and the 2016 botcon megatron is more appropriately his final form rather than his original form (both in intent for the designs origins and even in beast wars uprising). dawn of the predacus should never be considered as something to reference when it comes to bw canon because it contradicts too much from the tv show

 

If you were looking at positioning him as a G1 character though, setting aside BW...

Eh, he’s still more recognizable in the purple. Every version of pre bw megatron has been black and purple except for dawn of the predacus. Hell Takara more or less made archforce/g2 hero megatron into a version of pre bw megatron during legends. Referencing anything from dawn of the predacus is a mistake in my opinion and not something hasbro is likely to do. Also why on earth would you want to reference a bw character but set bw aside? G1 version or not, it’s still a bw character and should reflect at least some semblance of where he comes from

 

My guess is that "red" stands for red ryder bb gun from Christmas Story and every kid knows to be careful with those things, so it will be a Megatron painted in that deco and be perfectly legal to sell in the US.

oh man, I'd lose it for a purple/magenta Soundwave

 

At this point, I fully expect them to finally do the Marvel Comic versions using the SIEGE molds, black helmet, yellow eyes Megatron, with off-center Decepticon symbol, and magenta Soundwave.

Hasbro has decided that there's no limit on the number of re-uses for SIEGE Megatron and will finally give me the deco I wanted to begin with on Megatron now that I'm locked in to Netflix Megatron.

 

As an SG fan, I support this.

 

...I'd kind of expect/hope it to be Earthrise Megatron: hard to imagine Walmart taking a THIRD exclusive of the same mold, that would probably be on shelf a the same time as the Netflix version...

 

I guess Red Soundwave will be Purple Soundwave with new head.

 

It's finally happened-- the Decepticons have gone full Commie! 

 

You know what? Now that I think about it, I hope these are G1 comic versions, and I really, really hope now that WFC 3 sees us a new Galvatron, and we eventually get a Marvel comic version of that, so that we can have a modern Galvatron with the original toy colors (which I really like).

 

I’ve been wanting a purple Soundwave toy for years. If this is a chance to see it at retail, I’m all for it.

If Megatron is a WFC redeco, my guess would be that they’re using the Earthrise mold. (I’d love to see a WFC Safety Megatron or the black and brown Microchange deco. Weird and obscure redecos have always been my thing.)
