It's understandable given the shift downward in physical sizing overall from 2011 up until now. Quality went down hill by 2012 and while quality is arguably(and some cases, is) better now, it may be at the cost of having physically smaller toys.

*May* being the key word. What I would've preferred are the pre-2012 deluxe/voyager/leader sizes & build quality with the newer designs. Maybe that'll never happen given the size reduction even from Prime Wars to the current WFC trilogy. I'll buy what appeals to me but even by Toy Fair I was already thinking I might be buying less in the future(not a big fan of EarthRise Datsuns having largely hollow lower legs and feet for example).

Are you really saying there are no other people around that would rather pay the standard Scout price for Cliffjumper without weapons than pay full price Deluxe for a Scout with a big gun?

Now people do like the Cliffjumper toy. I’m saying they don’t like that he costs as much as Hoist does.

im not the one making generalizations. are there fans that would rather pay scout price for cliffjumper? yes. are there fans that are ok with his price? yes. is there a way to tell what proportional fraction of the fandom lies in each camp? not really. given your posts you obviously fall into the first category, however you do not have sufficient data to say how the rest of the fandom falls, hence my comment of speaking for yourself and not for others. dont presume to speak for all fans or "99.99% of fans"

personally i fall into a 3rd category, those that understand the why (and no, its not because hasbro is greedy. they are a for profit organization, that goes without question). without small deluxe cliffjumper we dont get large deluxe (nearly voyager) hoist. the budgets are spread out across the wave. if paying $20 for a figure like cliffjumper makes it possible to have variations in size within a price point then i am not opposed to it.

This fan ( me :D ) has made sure not to pay full price for any figure not worth full price to him.;)

Still can't bring himself to get a Cliffjumper though. :lol

It's a great figure to me, but should've been $14.99, I think that's reasonable. Destroys the T30 red Bumblejumper and is a much more substantial mold than Prime Wars Legends. However, I don't feel it justifies the cost compared to its wavemates at the same price point. Sure the budget maybe did go to its wavemates but that only benefits those who buy the whole wave.

You're missing out, he's one of the best WFC figures. Much like Shockwave before him, he's a smaller scale figure at a bigger price point. The figure's budget was put into: insane articulation (he has an ab-crunch!), paint (he has oodles), a great missile launcher, and he has almost no hollow parts. I don't want all the deluxes to be this small, but you really get your money's worth with Cliffjumper. I'd much rather have a substantial but small deluxe figure like Cliffjumper than a big hollow one like Hoist.

Like I said, the cost isn't the issue as there's plenty of ways to get figures for cheaper.

The biggest thing that makes me not want him unless I get him for a huge deal, is of course the partsforming. I know that's taboo to talk about for many on here, and I'm sure there will be a ton of comments about my talking about it, but to me the cheat in engineering makes this guy worth less (to me) than if he fully transformed but had no accessories for the same price.

If you can look past it, it's an excellent figure in both modes. In spite of the partsforming, the transformation is unique and surprisingly complicated for something of its size. Hell, Siege Megatron partsforms, I don't see why it's a big deal with Cliffjumper.

I feel like you're missing the point about how Cliffjumper isn't actually a Scout/Legend, the cannon clearly isn't what contributes to him being a Deluxe, even the fact that the budget is spread across each Wave isn't the only contributing factor, I don't even have him yet and I can see from reviews that he's so much more dense and a good deal more articulated and complicated than any previous Legend or Scout toy. If they were actually trying to pass a 2010 style Scout off as a Deluxe I'd understand the complaints but that's clearly not the case. Also, Legend class isn't a thing anymore, sooo...

Nah it's not taboo. I'm glad the shield has somewhere to attach to in both modes but while I can tolerate it on Cliffjumper, I'm not so sure I'll like the removable backpack hoverboard on Arcee.

Hasbro did mention that cost cuts would be done for this year a while back on some investor call or whatever and I think the removable parts are part of it. I just hope it's not worse after EarthRise ends.

I wish we knew honestly, because I would just stop where I'm at and be done with it if that was the route of future figures.

I've already paid for the next two upcoming waves though, so I guess I'm stuck for now regardless. :lol

There's no increase in either though. But I do like the increase in accuracy.

I do too. I think they blew their budget on SIEGE and are using Earthrise as kind of a catch-up/filler line for the trilogy. Some of the figures like Sky Lynx don't look compromised, I hope the rest is good.

It all comes down to an ability to appreciate quality. And quality always comes at a price. I mean look at the 3p legends companies Newage and Ironfactory. Fans have no problem forking over $30 for the Iron Factory Cliffjumper because they recognize the quality IF puts into their products. And you know what, Hasbro's Cliffjumper is a better product than IF's in almost every way. Yet you guys still complain, I don't get it. Are you all trying to make Hasbro plummet back into the depths of mediocrity or what? :lol

Oh and ps, I am not sure about the whole CJ's got less of the total budget allocated to him either.

That's the argument usually posted in defense of smaller sizing overall in defense of relative scaling emphasis starting with Studio Series and Generations in 2018, used to explain why 2 figures in the same pricepoint can be substantially different sizes.

Actually there is. Name me 5 prime wars figures that have waist, wrist and ankle articulation. Hell name 3 legends sized figures that have ankle articulation. More articulation = an increase in engineering. As for scale, starting with siege, there is an increased focus on internal scale, so I’ve got no idea why you think there isnt

Also I'm going to add this to the mix.

I love the difference in sizes of the Deluxe figures and hope to see more of that in the future.

I understand the argument, I'm just not sure it applies to CJ.
