Glad you liked them! I'm probably gonna spray the base a metallic color. It's quite brown in person. It's still a fun piece and apparently in the future there will be a way to order them, and if you connect them together it'll make the driller bot!

Finally found this guy at my local Target but ended up putting it back on the shelf. Someone here mentioned it previously, but he is not as purple as pictures or videos would lead one to believe. It was mostly black plastic with purple paint apps on very few select places. Shame, as I really love the design but just couldn't justify paying full retail price for it. Ended up picking up Scavenger instead.

Dude he's like at least 60% covered in purple, and the rest has silver weathering. The paint work is NOT cheap on this guy.

Got him 25% off from Amazon, loving him so far. Question though: what's the deal with the horns on his head? Why are they different lengths? Hard to tell from pics on here, but I don't think it's just my copy. Is this really how they were in the movie? I can't remember. Sorry if this has been asked before.

I just realized I've had this guy for 2 months and never gave any thoughts on him.
I like him quite a bit! I thought the tank mode looked lame in the stock photos but in person it's pretty cool

Holy moly, is this the most ridiculously specific bit of screen accuracy in the entire Studio Series line to date?

Wasnt there a comic tie in or something that told about Optimus VS shockwave in a previous encounter? I bet optimus clipped his ear.

Yeah, it's in the last issue of Rising Storm (DotM prequel). Shockwave has a more G1-like head and chest, which gets mangled in a fight with Prime.

I actually just finished reading it again lol (been rereading the movie comics recently). It's decent. Reign of Starcream is probably the best of them all. I definitely prefer Milne's art in that one to Magno's in Rising Storm. The movie comics as a whole have a fun continuity that really makes the most sense possible of the movies. I was sad they didn't keep going with AoE and TLK.

Wow I soooo would have never noticed that on my own. Cool find!
Totally agree here, especially about Reign being the best. That was like a mini-movie to itself and it's what made me really start to like doritoscream's design since Milne's artwork was so good. I also really enjoyed the tales of the fallen comics and I wish they had done more of those! I always liked the spotlight issues in the main IDW continuity and to do that with the movie characters who (some of which) barely got anything to do in the actual movies was brilliant. I would have bought many more if they had made them.

I don’t get the “but he did’nt have an alt mode in the movie” argument. lol
    He is a transformer.

Tank mode’s a monster but that’s why I like it.
Looks like it could ram or burrow through anything, or allow SW to be invulnerable to everything for a bit.
It also looks like it could absorb all the recoil that big cannon can give while remaining stationary. That’s a BFG.

The rubber blade is about the only thing that bugs me, stays bent too easily & doesnt stay on well.

I want to add more weathering but dont want to drown out the nice paint job Hasbro did.
This guy looks amazing & just as menacing as he did on screen.
Shared parts & engineering does’nt bother me, since they’re re-using something that works.

Mine’s just chilling on the end table in tankmode looking BEASTLY atm.

I think Shockwave looks WAY better than the ROTF Megatron, and that's doubly impressive considering he wasn't designed to transform, and I think the altmode is much better as well.

Could somebody please make a foto of this Shockwave with someone from main MP line? Like Megs, Starscream or Soundwave.

Welp, after finally getting him, here's my 2 cents.

    Design: 10/10
Although he does reuse ROTF Megs, I never owned the figure so I don't feel any repeating parts. I also know the parts that are the same are minimal.
The overall sculpting is also fantastic and completely realizes the movie character while also surpassing what the original dotm toy attempted to do!
    Paint: 10/10
Most people have compared this to custom paint jobs and that's nuff-said.
    Articulation: 6/10
Sadly, I've been cursed to have absolutely garbage ankle joints that like to tip over almost as much as POTP Optimus does. The only difference between the Optimus and this is that Shockwave is an absolute joy otherwise.
    Materials: 8/10
The rubber in the feet and cannon don't bother me as much as I though it would. The cannon is pretty solid unless you purposely flex it and the feet are "whatever". The solid plastic does give him a good amount of heft, though as someone earlier said, he is lighter than you would think. The hand is what turns me off. I had TLK Dragonstorm and the way the hand is pinned rubber gives me PTSD to Dragonstorm's dragon heads, 2/3 of which broke off. I just hope a similar fate doesn't befall ol' one-eye's only hand.

    Overall: A-
Not Jetfire or Blackout levels of engineering or articulation but is a solid case-mate to the also fantastic Leader Scavenger.

oh and accesories, not bad. they didn't have to rub in his wimpy death by parachutists though....
