This might be my favorite 3D print ever. Excellent work here, I am amazed at the results.

I have now made the files available over on Etsy. Anyone interested can go snag them there

Siege Shockwave Hearts of Steel Upgrade Armour

This is the first time I've ever sold a project, but hopefully I will be able to make more of them available in the near future. Animated Powermaster Prime will be next

When I bought Shockwave, I took him out of the box, disconnected all that armor, put it back in the box, and haven't looked back since.

If this had been the armor that came with him, I think it would have been a very different story.

    Amazing work. Truly.

Aaaand bought. I think I'll try to print these out in ABS to see if they hold up to a vapor smoothing.

As always, amazing stuff! Love the (spark armour-esque I guess) effect of having the armour turn into stand-alone vehicle!

Etsy is where you buy the files then print it out yourself, right?

This is such an impressive project and a creative one to boot. :)  Despite it being an armor set this truly captures the look and feel of Hearts of Steel Shockwave. Makes me wish this was an official product. The fact that you're selling copies of it to people makes it more awesome.

Currently doing a test print in a single color PLA for a fitting. I'm curious if anyone who has bought this has a resin printer. If anyone is familiar with printing in that material, I have questions about flex and tolerances. I'm almost certain resin would give a better finish, but I'd worry about parts like the left shoulder, which is a tight fit, cracking if the material is too rigid.

Sweet! Silly request, but can you have him posed with the mini-Sub that came along with MMC's HoS Shockwave? Maybe a video showing off the kit being put on/off?

Genuinely considering ordering a Siege Shockwave because of this upgrade... Amazing work! I'm really impressed by the boat mode for the armor. It looks so good!

Thanks for the support man, I look forward to seeing how that goes. I worry some of the smaller panel lines and rivets may get messed up but it could come out real nice

Yeah these are just the print at home files. I hope to do a short run of pre-printed sets for sale, but we will have to see if I can get that worked out

I'll grab you that photo in the morning when the lighting is better

that stinks for me. Don't have a 3d printer or have any shops nearby that do.
If you do, please let me know.....please....

Update on the ABS print with vapor smoothing. The detailing holds up for the most part, but thinner panels warp too much to be usable. Going back to PLA. Anyone out there got a DLP printer?

Quick idea I'd like to throw out. Is it possible to redesign the hinges to have pop in friction hinges similar to Siege Ironhide's leg pannels? Being a harder plastic than Ironhide's, I think if you thicken up some of the hinges and get the tolerences right, it would allow for a snug and firm fit with easier assembly and reduce the need for the pins and paperclips.
I am scared to death of breaking some of these smaller joints by forcing a paperclip through them

Damn, sorry to hear, I've been shown good results from vapor smoothing but never tired it myself

See, I spent a long time trying to get normal slip together joints like that to work, but no matter what I tried the numbs holding the parts together would invariably wear away and the parts would fall apart. That is a design that works quite well for ABS, but sadly I don't have the ability to print ABS. The pins should not be too hard to get in, if it's resisting significantly it may be necessary to increase the holes in the files or use something smaller like a pin. If I can help with that process let me know

Yeah, it's a shame about the vapor smoothing. I could definitely do the larger parts but I think it would look weird if only part of it was vapor smoothed. For the time being I've just put some tensioners on my timing belt and printed out a new cooling fan shroud in HIPS to try to get a little bit more crisp of a print in PLA.

As for the nubs, yeah I could see how they would not hold up being that small. I found some smaller pins in the garage so I'm going to go ahead and give those a try.
