Yes, so when you place Mixmaster over Scavenger's c-clip pegs you'll have enough clearance to rest Mixmaster's tires over a bigger horizontal red peg, making his neck and face point upwards.
When you do this, the rotation separates the c-clip pegs from the horizontal red post.

Man I'm sorry to be a pain about all this.

But, I was able to do all that anyway, the way I have it above.

Hahahaha, no problem. The goal is that since Mixmaster is attached more towards Devastator's back because of the peg rotation, it points up the head and won't be looking down when crouching or crawling. Just remember that Scavenger has this really thick red peg directly in front of the c-clip pegs where you attach Mixmaster by the rear mud guards. If that thick red peg is getting inside Mixmaster's rear wheels, then your Devastator head will point down and you won't see a difference.
Mixmaster tires should be placed directly above this thick red peg.

So when I go with this up-look mode, I shouldn't be using that red bar to connect inside the wheels? Because like this, now the c clips and that bar don't line up.

Exactly! You should only peg the c-clips, not the wheels to the thick red peg. It should fight you a little when you use the c-pegs, but it can be done.

Red arms flush to back treads

No problem, we are all here 'cause we enjoy these toys and we like sharing these tips.
I think Hasbro/Takara wanted to brag how tall this guy could be, so they are using that standing up pose everywhere, when they could actually brag about all the articulation he has and post pics on every social media site with him crouching, crawling, hunching, fighting, etc...

I really respect what the designers were trying to do, give us a better ROTF Devastator than what we got, but man, there is no getting around that the design is just terrible.

Where's this whole "don't use the large red pegs in the wheels" coming from?

I know somebody posted Scavenger's instructions, but how often have instructions left steps out in recent years?

The idea is that the large red peg is used when going for a standing humanoid combined mode, with the Devvy head orientated as seen at Toyfair and in the official combined mode images

The alternate transformation being discussed these past few pages is to angle Mixmaster/Devvy head upwards to achieve the crouching/crawling stance seen in the prototype and be closer to the movie scenes.

I agree, especially the head part was a big let down for me considering the prototype we got.

I get that they have to be some differences between the prototype and final product but here it is very lacking for me.Maybe parts former was the solution. Imho if course. If you like it you win.
The worst part for me is that I will get him regardless...god I am weak

It reminds ne if the original mockup for Mp Primal's beast mode- a statement of intent, and what we got was quite different. You can see who was finished (like long haul), and who was not (scrapper, a lot of the body).

It's arguably misrepresentative, and definitely a bit odd that parts of a combiner were nearly done (again, most clearly Long Haul in this image) when other components were apparently nowhere near done, given that they're all interdependent.

Or if there was more progress on the other designs, why show this fantasy model when the actual transformable models are going to not be at all like this?

Scrapper is definitely one of the best. After playing around with him for a number of days, the management of kibble is unparalleled. Unlike Rampage with the entire scoop on his back, the shovel gets integrated into his legs and arm. Very nice.
