I think Lewin Optimus also works as the Optimus Prime Statue Optimus Primal talks to in Beast Machines.

As far as I remember, they (WJ) did some RID2015 stuff - Grimlock, Optimus Prime, Sideswipe, Strongarm, Megatronus and Drift (upscaled warrior class figures). I can't say anything about quality because I don't own any of these. Out of others - I may recommend blue Rook (that colour works great for his both modes), keep in mind that these words come from someone who isn't very fond of Rook mould :)  (I have many minor nitpicks about it, I consider this mould to be "meh" at best). You may skip Blades in Alpha Bravo colours (or Alpha Bravo with Blades' head :D  ) unless you're completionist :)  . Other than that, hmm, there are two Stunticons - Offroad and Breakdown, these are pretty neat.

What bothers me (a little) about WJ are faces. On my Highbrow and Breakdown these are very blurred and it seems like some details were lost during upscaling (the same in case of Titan Masters robot modes). Though to be fair - BMB/Aoyi did some odd faces either (Cutthroat :D  ).

I own "skittles" Dinobots, so... Plastic in case of Terrorcons feels pretty much the same as on Dinobots. I'd say BMB/Aoyi KOs of PotP figures are slightly (not much though) worse than WJ's KOs of CW ones. Tolerances on BMB/Aoyi are quite random - I have consistently loose knee joints on all Terrorcons and Siege KOs. After handful of transformations Rippersnapper legs don't peg firmly in monster mode anymore. "Prime armor" doesn't tab securely on Cutthroat in robot mode and it doesn't tab at all on Rippersnapper in beast mode (tabs and tab holes do not line up). I don't remember at the moment, but on some figures (Cutthroat?) combiner fist falls out of the peg hole at the bottom of the robot foot. Blot can't be used as the leg because his head gets "stuck" in the torso.

It's odd that (at least my) Terrorcons generally don't hold together well in beast modes after just few transformations (maybe it's just bad luck, in case of KOs the term "your mileage may vary" is more valid then anywhere else :)  ). I've transformed my Dinobots back and forth a lot and all still hold together pretty well in all modes (though I snapped combiner part on Sludge and Slag developed nasty stress mark on combiner fist/foot peg hole - these both happened after I have "uncombined" them - both were used as the legs).

It's still available at SirToys :)

Means a new scale of transformers collection.
Mp scale, mpm scale, studio series scale, siege and earthrise scale is enough for me.
But I did bought bmb oversized dinobots to fit with siege and earthrise better. I just don't have the space for new scale of transformers.
Hope to see your oversized collection:thumb

WJ OS figures can be a mixed bunch, but overall they're usually very good. I'd say that the BMB Terrorcons that I have are pretty amazing though... the paint apps are immaculate, and the diecast weight really feels nice at this size. The plastic quality feels really good - honestly, better than most of the OS WJ stuff. None of the joints are loose on mine, though Rippersnapper's leg halves don't clip together as tightly as I'd like, and sometimes open up slightly. I would say that they're at least as good as the BMB Dinobots.

The Headmasters are probably some of the best WJ OSKO deluxes. The RID2015 OSKO figures they did are NOT their best... though some figures are better than others (Sideswipe and Megatronus are great). The new Aoyi OS Siege stuff is good, solid, sturdy... but comments about the heads are correct. There's a bit of distortion (or deliberate remolding?) on the faces.

I mean... that sort of really does sound like the kind of thing that someone with something to prove would say... doesn't it?

    Just sayin' :redface2:

Wow, attaching the guns to Volcanicus' feet really makes them look better! :thumb

That BMB Grimlock is such a beast. So thick and chunky (as Grimlock should feel!)

I mean, the transformation of his tail in dino-mode still sucks. But other than that, it's a pretty good version of Grim.

I was going to say "Is that a GAIGAR homage?" but then I realized what deco you were actually homaging... :thumb

I still have that Predaking set around here somewhere. Unfortunately, he's in pieces... the plastic on that original KO is not the best. Still, I'm getting some use out of the hands/feet and all the guns/swords (though the handles need modification to fit in 5mm fists).

    :lol

I don't think I had any idea what GAIGAR was prior to your mentioning it, but now that I looked it up,

...I think I must be in pursuit of that toy!
And possibly take an extra OS'd MMC razor claw and customize it to mimic that GAIGAR.

I could even envision that Cang Toys company that's making the more modern deco'd predacons coming up with an exclusive deco to imitate that.

And why not give us a 'final fusion'

...sigh... Yet something else that wasn't even on my radar, that I now want. Maybe I'll use the eBay bucks I got from this past quarter towards something like it; but probably wait until another meager eBay offer comes so I could at least try to maximize the minimal return since the 15% & 20% flash sales are a thing of the past, while now we can look forward to tax and MAYBE an ocassional 5% or 8% offer for additional eBay bucks.

As for the G1 KO predaking with some white bots, I actually picked up a full set still on the cards during last year's TFCon in Reston, VA.
    E67AF512-4924-40D6-B1B0-EEE27118F1FA.jpeg
Haven't taken them out yet, as I wanted to get all my predacons together and potentially tinker with the metal set and some of the add-ons I got with it before deciding if I wanted to open the sealed KOs yet. Your mention of their brittleness makes me want to get all my fiddling desires out of my system before messing with the sealed KO set so I won't unnecessarily stress or even break any of them.

Whoa I was out for the day, thank you all for your helpful advice!

I have the one with Streetwise and First-Aid. These are some of my kids' favorite sets to mess with in individual mode (we love Weijiang Predaking but the individual bots aren't as interesting to my boys as the Defensor vehicles, and they love the "Defensor rap" on youtube haha. I'd say he's quite stable combined but looks a bit derpy (more of Hasbro's fault than Weijiang's). I will say that some of the limbs haven't survived the test of time with hundreds of transformations from my kids - Rook, Streetwise and Blades have very loose joints now and sometimes pop off, and First Aid is missing a wheel haha.

I didn't get Nero Rex (I think that's Jinbao right) because I heard he had a bunch of stability issues when combined. I'm wondering if I should get them for individual modes but I usually don't like having duplicate sets of combiner teams... I sold off my Jinbao Bruticus since I'm starting my MMC Bruticus collection now. I do have Fire Chief and my kids love it too - I'd say the quality of Weijiang OS HotSpot and Fire Chief is incredible and sturdy. I have some of the KO OS Siege figures (Red Alert and Megatron) and I do hope they continue with this line.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know WJ made ANY OS of Stunticons! How are the quality on these two? I might bite!

The Dinobots aren't bad (my oldest boy loves them as I got them for him for his 5th birthday) but I just feel many pieces don't tab in as securely as the WJ OS toys. But they're definitely passable for the price - I might wait until all 5 are available in a set like I got with Volcanicus. I've also read that people have trouble pegging the hand/feet into the OS limb modes.

Thanks for your experience with the Terrorcons! I'm always happy to see when you reply to my questions - appreciate your constant help! Do you have experience with the 2 WJ Stunticons?

One last question, I'm looking for a fun Sixshot figure. I looked at FT Hydra and DX9 Hanzo but I'm not sure those are "fun" to transform, and instead good for posing and display (though I might lean toward Hanzo eventually). I was considering the Clonedroid KO of MMC Terminus Hexatron. Does anyone have experience with this figure? Is it OS version of the MMC CHUG line?

I also see a G1 Sixshot available in SirToys. Is this a KO? Is it good quality? I'm bummed there's no KO of the TR Sixshot as I've read that figure is quite nice. Thanks!

Exactly. I’m not giving up my MPP10z until someone oversizes one of the toon inspired Optimus Primes.

Oh, wow...! If you've somehow gotten this far without learning about GAOGAIGAR, you're in for a treat!

It's one of the most delightful and influential super-robot series to come around in the past 30 years, especially for fans of Transformers. Now that you know the Final Fusion, you'll probably start noticing references to that sequence scattered around other media.

GGG is definitely a kiddy show. It's very upbeat, and relies heavily on formula... but the details and characterizations and variations in the formula really show a lot of love, and keep it interesting for older viewers as well.

The original Takara toys are hard to come by, and they're pretty bricky. I do recommend the original "truck brothers" toys (HyoRyu, EnRyu, FuuRyu, RaiRyu). These 4 truck robots with identical transformations can pair up into 2-part "symmetrical docking" combiners. If you can find the Takara or identical Korean Sonokong versions, the quality is excellent, and the articulation is way ahead of the curve for 1997. I've got all 4, and I love them.

Happywell also made off-coloured KO versions in the early 2000s. They're not as good as the originals, but they're still pretty good by KO standards, and the combining functionality is preserved.

I've owned several upscale transformable versions of GaoGaiGar - both of CM's Club versions, the Yujin DX GaoFighFar, and now the Bandai Soul of Chogokin version. Obviously the Bandai version is the king, but it's seriously expensive.

They aren't SUPER fragile, but sometimes, something just... breaks... with very little provocation. About half of mine have some critical breakage on them (a head, an harm, etc). Play safe!

Go for it! It's just Breakdown and Offroad, sadly... but the quality is totally on par with WJ's other OSKO Deluxes like the Headmasters, Protectobots, etc... big and sturdy. Maybe they might get loose after a year of heavy play, like you've see with the Protectobots, but they feel pretty durable to me. I have no complaints (except the lack of a full team).

Better than passable, I'd say. My set has really firm joints, the paint looks great, and the metal feels fantastic. There are a couple of bits that are a little hard to tab in securely, but I daresay, my Hasbro POTP Dinobots are the same, so the fault might not be with BMB.

Possibly. I don't recall whether I've tried plugging any of the OSKO Terrorcon hands/feet in yet. The figures feel exceptional, but I am a bit curious whether the smaller combiner pegs will be up to the task of keeping Abominus sturdy...

The only off-brand Sixshot I have any experience with is the big black KO version of Terminus Hexatron with the green metallic head and the giant swords. Definitely not a high-grade KO, so you can probably skip that one.

I have the Hasbro TR version, and I love the design, with all his emphasized blockiness. It's really great, EXCEPT... all the joints on mine are very loose. I don't know if it's a common issue, or just bad Hasbro QC, but he's worse than any of my other Leader figures from CW/TR/POTP. Kind of frustrating, because all the joints are pin/rivet, so you can't really tighten anything. Otherwise, it would be perfect.

As for the G1 Sixshot on Sirtoys, that's definitely a KO, but I think it's a very close copy of the G1 original (at full size, based on the images). I also had a smaller KO of G1 Sixshot in accurate colours (about voyager size) that was barely simplified at all, and rather well-made. Not a bad figure if you come across one.

Gun for grimlock? Did you mean the guns on volcanicus feet?
Or the gauntlets on grimlock's arms?

I think SMOG already said what I would say :) .
I may only add that both figures sport some minor improvements (Breakdown has tab which tabs into the backpack which secures legs way better in vehicle mode, Offroad has extra tab on the inside of one shin which makes connection between shins more secure), there's much less diecast than on Protectobots (but in spots where it makes much more sense - Blades' and First Aid's legs really didn't need all that diecast). Both are missing combiner fist/foot/gun accessory. Like I mentioned. Breakdown's face is a bit blurry compared to Hasbro version (that's weird because Offroad's face is fine).

(don't mind incorrect accessories, I just was checking out if WJ CW KOs can exchange weapons with Aoyi Siege KOs)

Like I said - YMMV :D . My "skittles" Dinobots are fine except damage I've mentioned. And like I said - quality is slightly worse than on WJ (on the other hand, some parts on WJ KOs, like Brainstorm's nosecone and fist covers, tab extremely tight, my Skullcrunchers has stress marks on his tail - never plug his gun into his tail, I had two figures and in both cases hole on the tail is way too small).
