I'm still supremely butt-rustled that I dove into """SIEGE, PART 1 OF THE WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY""" expecting a CYBERTRON TRILOGY. I adore SIEGE. The scuffing, the retrofuture vehicles, the cleverness behind making "alien" vehicles turn into G1 models. All of it.

.....and now, PART 2: EARTH....


EARTH?!. FUCKMEM8.

I guess I'm stupid. They can't stay away from Earth for more than a day. I really do think these figures look great and I'm gonna get some of em. But shit I just feel like I got boned with a killer SIEGE lineup that'll never be completed. I wish every toy being released rn was the same but Cybertron'd. They captured a real magic in SIEGE with a great balance of old and new. I figured they'd have seen that through. I'd have loved Wheeljack and Bumblebee out of MTMTE P1 except SIEGED up.

A word of caution:

My Cliffjumper was losing paint in the shoulders, where they tab to make the back wheels and I decided to coat them with clear nail polish, as I have done before to prevent it from peeling anymore. The polish disolved the paint slightly, but luckily I could coat it kinda evenly so that it doesn't look worse than it already was.

If anyone is interested I'll update tomorrow when its dry to report on how it turned out.

 

Just wondering what are opinions on the new Smokescreen - i mean the look not the hollow legs etc. I've personally always wanted a definitive version of Prowl/ Smokescreen / Bluestreak, and I thought Siege was it - the top half was perfect, it was just the legs would need reprolabels to fully realise that. Now Looking at the Earthrise Smokescreen the look is almost exactly what i wanted, I mean the original photos weren't great but the later ones definitely make it look better. My one gripe is the shoulder cannons - they were cartoon accurate for siege - why not for Earthrise - one line you get not-quite toon accurate bot with toon accurate missiles, then in Earthrise you get vice versa. I wasn't going to bother but the decider has sadly been reprolabels - no reflection on them at all - but it worked out slightly cheaper to buy the new Smokescreen figure than it would to buy the labels for the siege one and have them shipped to the UK. Hopefully Prowl and Bluestreak will follow, as again with the labels (and the fact that i dont want Prowl's launchers with his set) it will most likely be cheaper to buy the new figures.

 

Yeh I have same set up I modded a 5mm weapon and attached it to the trailer hitch.

 

As I once said, plenty of "Earth"rise bots - such as Scorponok, Doubledealer, Snapdragon, Airwave, Fasttrack, Alicon, freakin QUINTESSONS - look quite alien to me. But I agree I'd love to cybertronian Jackie or Bee, or some double-barrel Fall of Cybertron game-like Brawl and now we'll probably won't see any  

 

personally i think the new one looks a lot better, there was always something that bugged me about the look of the siege one and i still cant really put my finger on it

 

I'm the same - i loved prowl and Blustreak, but i just was not satisfied with Smokescreen. I think for me it was twofold - as i mentioned the legs / feet (this is on all three in this mold), and the fact that doors dont point up too much. I found that Prowl and bluestreak were a lot more toonlike but smokescreen wasn't. He actually reminded me a lot of Animated Jazz - looking like he's wearing a jump suit with some armour on top

 

i think for me its more the car front end/chest being a bit too thin on the siege one, looks like he's wearing a tube top (this is for all 4 from the mold)

Uh... How is the European market ever going to get Skywarp and Thundercracker now that they're [bad word] Target exclusives?

Why did they make such important characters an exclusive??
I can't believe this! So.. do you think the world will see those two released later on? I refuse to pay Target or eBay prices for these. But painting two Starscreams is too much. I don't know how do that without the result looking like trash

I have every siege datsun mold and I think they look great in bot mode from the waist up. For me the gangly thighs always kind of bugged me but they grew on me because the figures overall look great. Something else that always makes me nervous is having a stress mark in the clear plastic knee joint on bluestreak. There may or may not be any on prowl but I wouldn't know due to the clear plastic being painted. I won't mind buying the earthrise versions one bit just cause smokey looks so much better from head to toe-spoiler and with the exception of those reverse clip on tires, the er version looks so much better, more solid construction, and even the guns are better imo.

 

G1 modes for prime and testing out trailer swapping. Earthrise legs have to be split.

Grapple is just such a fun figure. Super simple transformation that can be done fast and different things you can do with his look with his hands is great. I also took his gun and gave it to POTP Grimlock as I like Grapple just being a "I convert my hand into everything" bot

 

If I decide to get him, I was planning of giving his gun to Wheeljack who is seriously under armed for being such a great inventor/weapons designer.

 

I want to know the opposite. How can I remove the red paint from his shoulders?
