    It objectively is.
Objectively means factually, not "in my opinion".

I know what it means. What determines “better quality”? If we look at it objectively, we could say plastic feeling, parts count, number of QC issues. In those cases, the Siege line absolutely slaughters both TR and CW. Siege figures are much more solid feeling with better articulation, more parts leaving less hollow areas and less thin plastic, and limited QC issues compared to those lines.

I like a lot of CW and TR but to say the quality was better in those lines than the modern stuff is just not true.

    BEAST WARS!!

the problem there is though, that it wasn’t until recently that hasbro made figures in the Cyberverse line that were more in line with generations and studio series stuff on top of the simpler, kid-friendly stuff

And even then. Out of the 8 deluxe figures they made. All but 1 (Thunderhowl) were G1 legacy characters. (Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Shockwave, Hot Rod, Grimlock, Arcee) all using their Evergreen (G1 inspired) designs.

Aside from Thunderhowl all the non-G1 inspired characters (Cheetor, Sky-Byte, Slipstream, Clobber, Wildwheel, Shadow Striker, etc) were only available in the more kid-oriented size classes.

And even with whatever show replaces Cyberverse next year, the introduction of the Evergreen designs have me worried that it too will be a G1-fest, and again full of mostly simplified figures, to appease the target audience of the show.

I mean. It is possible they’ll re-think things and surprise us with a whole new series. Brand new characters, new re-imaginings of classic characters. And a return to the pre-RiD2015 era of media toy lines, with Delxue, Voyager and Leader classes. But I don’t feel that’s very likely to happen.

At best they’ll keep the deluxe class and have it going from the start of the next show. But even then, if the designs are based on the evergreen designs again. It’ll be another red and blue Optimus Prime that turns into a flat nose truck, another grey, red and blue Starscream that turns into a fighter jet, another grey bucket-head Megatron that turns into a tank. Another bumblebee, another Hot Rod, another Soundwave, another shockwave. Etc etc.

we may get a couple of figures based on new characters, or characters not from G1, but G1/Evergreen will likely still be dominating the line.

I don't think I care, funnily enough. I'd just like cool toys. Besides, even if a TF series was not great, the toys were fun. So, I'll take anything, new or old.

Honestly surprised we didn't see this as a PotP Leader. It would've been fantastic.

The figures actually weren't and aren't simpler/kid friendly any more than RiD toys were. They were/are just generally hampered by a kid-friendly gimmick.

Who cares? There are tons of great figures in this line that you are ignoring. Also tons that aren't great, too, but that's besides the point.

    Again, not true at all.

Cheetor is a deluxe figure that comes packed with a battleship that becomes a ridiculous-sized backpack - he actually looks decent next to PotP Optimus Primal
Sky-Byte was available as both a decent one-step changer and a nice-scout-class figure with a drill that turns into a less ridiculous backpack - I highly recommend the Allspark Armor figure (it actually beats out the Generations figure, IMO)
Hammerbyte - one of the best shark-former toys since Energon Sharkticon, despite the Warrior-class gimmick
Clobber - a fantastic homage to Animated Lugnut and a decent figure if you give her a chance

I'm still surprised there's no Lockdown toy

It's clear you ignore the line unless you find something that fits your narrow guidelines for your collection. That's fine - it's how collectors save money and don't have shelves that look like Hasbro threw up random toys all over the place. But I encourage you to look outside your parameters to see that there are some really good offerings in there - one's that you'd probably enjoy if given the chance.

I think the Netflix series and War For Cybertron will keep that flame alive. It's clear that Hasbro is willing to go different directions from G1 within the bounds of the Cyberverse storyline - there's a good chance they'll deviate even further next year.

The main thing to remember is that G1 is printing money for Hasbro right now. You don't look the gift horse in the mouth, so to speak, so yes, G1 will be hanging around for awhile. The bigger question is to what degree. I can definitely see a more Beast Wars oriented show being developed as Millennials start getting catered to in media - but Hasbro won't want to abandon red/blue truck Prime quickly, either. I'm anticipating a 75/25 blend of animal/vehicle show incoming.

I would be all over Studio Series-esque Beast Wars and Armada lines.

I was born in '87 so I missed a lot of early G1 Transformers so I got to start my collecting in the strange era of G2 but I still grew up on the G1 cartoon. So there were a lot of Transformers that I wanted toys of that I could never get. I am just now starting to feel that between the Prime Wars and War for Cybertron trilogies that I am starting to fill in every spot on my wish list of characters that I was never able to get as a child. I really feel like all I want are a WFC Inferno, Jazz, Tracks, and toss in some obscure Decepticons I never knew I wanted, like Spininster, and I would really start to feel like I have everything I wanted since I was a kid.

Prime Wars was really good for going off the beaten path and digging in deep to late-season two of G1 and the Japanese series as well as doing fantastic updates on the Autobot minibots. WFC has given us great versions of the season one and two main casts. Also, I'm really starting to think that the final part of WFC is going to focus on the movie/season three characters as well as transformers from other planets/areas of the Transformers universe. As the trilogy has expanded from one planet to a few planets, to the greater Transformers galaxy. Now, where do you go from there? They have pretty much covered all of G1 that they can.

This is my theory, 2021 is going to the 25th anniversary of Beast Wars and John Warden did say that they had something planned for that. I think they are going to announce a beast era trilogy next, after WFC wraps up. I mean between Optimal Optimus winning the POTP fan vote, Cheetor being in Cyberverse, The Masterpiece line still going pretty deep on Beast Wars characters, and talk of a Beast Wars movie there are a lot of signs that they are getting ready to make a comeback. Basically, at some point, the '80s nostalgia is going to run dry and they will have to tap more into the '90s well to keep things going. They can still use studio series and the next animated series is to keep the normal car to robot Transformers around but I really do think the beasts will be making a full comeback soon.

What we need is a Beast Wars II re-do. All the heroes are Beast Wars homages and all the villains are G2 Decepticon homages. Optimus Prime and Megatron can take a breather and just go hang out in Generations and Studio Series for awhile. But mix it up. Don't go for all obvious characters.

    Core Heroes:

    Optimus Primal
    Cheetor
    Rattrap
    Torca
    Airrazor
    Polar Claw
The Scramble Ninjas: Gekiso, Hisho & Sensui that combine into Shadowtron (The beast combiner from Transformers Go!)
G2 Powermaster Ironhide (now super old, cranky and uses his bottom half to zoom around on because he "lost his legs in a transport attack during the Battle for Autobot City")
    for reference[IMG]

    Core Villains:

G1 Galvatron based on Titans Return w/o the gimmick
G2 Dreadwing w/Smokescreen (make the whole "G1 Smokescreen turned evil" official canon)
    G2 Deluge
    Prime Airachnid
    G2 Jolt
G2 Skyscorchers: Windrazor (second in command to Galvatron), Eagle Eye, Terradive and Afterburner
    G2 Constructicons

    Transmutate (half car/half animal/split-allegiance)

    The premise:
Humans have colonized a new world, bringing many of the animals of Earth with them. But little do they know that the new planet is full of a special kind of Energon that can actually shape and fuel contraptions - and may have been the Energon used to create Transformer lifeforms! Galvatron wants it for his own to create a new Warworld that rivals Cybertron in size - but he needs to be tactful and prevent a mobilization of the Planetary Defense Force against him. So, his Decepticons take on disguises to blend in with civilization until he's ready. Meanwhile, the Maximals work to defeat the evil threat but don't want humans to know there's a war brewing on their newfound home.

Having a Beast Wars era trilogy happen in 2021 along with WFC3 showing up the same year being focused on the 86 movie is a good way to celebrate the respective anniversaries of both movie and show too since next year will be the 35th anniversary of the 86 movie.
