The more i see Siege Starscream the more i dislike ER it's weird since i wanted nothing to do with the seekers until i got Thundercracker

Experimented more with the MP10V trailer (3rd party downsized MP10 trailer to voyager scale). I was thinking of some other ideas to make the trailer work for ER OP and even started to prototype an adapter that would move the hitch port further away from the cab. Then I decided to think smarter. Works on both Siege and ER Optimus Prime.

Non-destructive method:
The trailer hitch is easily removable. You have to unscrew the black underside to get to the hitch screw. I left the opposite end screws of the black underside in place and moved the hitch end far enough away from the trailer bottom to get to the hitch screw. This leaves behind a loose 5mm port (closer to 5.1mm). Now anyone can easily make an adapter for this (don't need this tight anyways since it's just a hitch), even with the closest standard sized rod.

However, this puts the trailer too close to the cab. It has very little rotation. I measured about 26.8mm for a proper rod length. Without the original hitch, it does look hollow underneath. Rubber spacers around the peg should help with that.

Destructive method:
Drill a 5mm hole closer to the front end of the trailer. This then allows for more rotation (not full 90 but seems a little better than stock trailer). The plastic is very thin. I did not want to drill into the silver painted plastic itself for a deeper hole. I actually just held the drill bit by hand and turned it until it went through. There is enough depth still for a peg to sit relatively stable. I measured about 20.9mm for a proper rod length. Also looks hollow underneath; rubber spacer around the peg should help with that.

For ER OP, the original hitch may be left in place. For Siege OP, need to remove original hitch as it will run into the 3mm pegs on OP's legs.

Drilled a new 5mm port.

I'll make a proper peg later and attach something to the trailer end of the peg to prevent it from detaching from the trailer. Used a temporary "5mm" Tamiya rod for test fits (not true 5mm diameter, which was disappointing, so doesn't work as replacement handles for TF figures).

 

It's the waist. Not because it doesn't swivel, but just because it's a big block. It look proportionately weird to me. That's why I'm passing on ER.

Thanks for this, I've got that trailer shipping soon. It's good to know there is a "safe" option to modify this trailer for a modern voyager prime. I've had the mp10v for a while now but never really wanted the trailer until earthrise came out.

Used to talk to iGear all the time when they were active. They were cool.

 

Gotta say, this is nicely bloody done. Legs do fuck all like, and odd choice to go with grey on the inners (don't dislike it though), but that cab transformation is naughty, mate.



I could nitpick about the overall package until the cows come home (they are also social distancing) but this is a tremendous toy and I'm loving using his trailer as I bugger about with A.I.R Lock base experiments. May have ordered Toyhax labels, essentially for that trailer.
