Not sure it's been reported here. KING EXPRESS!! April Mashin Sentai Kiramager Scans Released: King Express Revealed! - Tokunation He apparently is a fusion between a villain mech and Red's train. And that's totally awesome since we haven't seen an official "evil" mech since the Artisan series in ToQger.
i wonder how long it will stay 'evil'...I've read it can be hacked to force the combination, but I figure eventually it will be just another piece of the good guy arsenal...
I doubt it will stay evil very long either. But it's a pretty neat concept...one even Transformers hasn't tried yet.
and the toy itself: apparently it'll release this month. looks really interesting so far. Not sure the colors blend well in robot mode, but I'll be picking it up. Wish the hips weren't completely imobile. Really curious as to how it'll combine with the other mecha released so far.
I'm digging it. Great fusion of light and dark. As for joints, probably should opt for Minipla. DX is always bricks (which is fine by me, it's what I've been used to since Godaikin Dynaman).
I just hate that BoJ never feels the need anymore to paint in the windows. This applies to ToQger as well.
Not sure if you guys saw, but Toei has shut down their studio as the red ranger actor for Kiramager got the corona virus.
*deploys shield for defense* *Peaks head out from behind* Anyone else besides me getting a Steven Universe vibe from the Kiramaiger Mecha toys?
You're like the 50th person to say that. I don't get the comparison as I've never touched a single episode of SU, but apparently it has similar themes.
Really the only similarity is "sentient, shapeshifting gems that can combine(or fuse) into larger form" This basically the closest we'll get to SU toys. What I'm saying is: Give me the swan train and the big black and purple steam locomotive dinosaur of death!
I have a question for curiosity. I'm trying to study something and I want to know. Our recent wave with Zeo Blue and SPD Red were revealed beginning of November, but preorders for all of them did not go up until MMPR Yellow was revealed around beginning of January, right?
Pre-ordered King Express. Now the wait begins. After looking Kiramaizin over, I noticed there are clips on his feet. It doesn't look like King Express and he combine - but they do share similar looking legs. If King Express ALSO has the same clip placement, I'm calling it - there's going to be a chariot Zord of some sort that either can use. We haven't had a chariot zord for sometime, so this will be kind of awesome if it comes to fruition.
I like that it's smaller. The budget seemed to prioritize an actual transformation over being just big and part-formery. I hope this eventually falls into Hasbro's lap because I can see some amazing stuff from them with the design - well, as long as they don't go the Beast Morphers route, that is. After a couple of years of sitting on the fence and watching the price flux between the original $140 and going as low as $80 at one point, I finally ordered Orion Battler for $85 shipped off Amazon. He's basically a massive 3-step changer, which is what was putting me off for so long. But I have the other three main DX mecha from that line so I'm only a couple smaller figures away from doing the bazooka formation. Anyone needing a refresher, it's this guy:
Yet the transformation is still bog-simple and the T. Rex train has huge, hollow legs on top of few paint apps across the board and really plain, basic sculpts. I don't think it's smaller to be better, it's smaller to be cheaper.
Sure, he can be transformed in 13 steps. But he gets bonus steps for also having the ability to form two other robots and having crystal modes. That's FAR more involved than most other Sentai mecha in recent years. I also think it's smaller in order to put less stress on the clear plastic joints that they surely know will possibly begin to crack over time if too much strain is put on them. It's just a guess. The last time we had a main mecha this small was Zyuohger. And this blows Zyuohking out of the water. If you want an example of the series being a cheapskate, look no further than Patoranger VS Lupinranger where most of the mecha use the same leg/torso component or a retooling of it. Either way, I prefer Kiramaizin over almost all the other mecha since ToQger. Just a really solid mech that actually manages to transform somewhat rather than simply part together.
