Calculating size from the Holy Scale Charts, Metroplex & Trypticon would be a solid 1.5 meters tall in WFC scale. So the Metroplex custom in the attached image(props to whomever made it! <3) would actually be closer to WFC scale than MP scale. What a figure it would be!

I hope they make from the mold of Arcee, a new Elita-1, new Dinobots ( not combiner for Primus!) and my little Bumblebee soon

Also Blaster, and the 3 cone-heads too!

In scale Dinobots would be difficult to do, all of them except Swoop would have to be Leaders and if you make them a Titan Class box set, each individual figure would suffer greatly

John Warden in an interview post WFC was asked about Dinobots and he made mention of the POTP DB, he seemed to be suggesting we wont see them again any time soon

It's ok. Grimlock and Swoop will get some redecos from Dinobot and Terrorsaur in WFC3.

I could see them maybe doing a new Voyager Grimlock, but yeah, doing all of the Dinobots over again, I just don't see it happening.

Hell, I feel like the only reason it happen in CW was justified by the combiner limb gimmick.

My biggest guess from the start has to do with the fact that 2024 will be the franchise's 40th anniversary. So starting with Combiner Wars they were checking off characters they wanted to do a proper update for. Once those are done they have the right to reissue them for any future sets. So when it comes to this trilogy they have those that do not have a proper update and those who were never made. Which means that since they are happy with how the Dinobots turned out they will not be reissued before that time comes. Which sucks in some ways but also has me hope they will do a retro-style homage if/when they are reissued.

Plus since they are doing this with TakaraTomy I am wondering if they will use of the Japanese continuity for the next possible trilogy. But that is also based on speculations I had in 2016 before I gave up on the hope they would happen.

It's long past time they venture more deeply into the Japanese Trilogy in terms of regular retail release. The likes of LGEX Dai Atlas, Star Convoy and King Poseidon were massive letdowns but that's coming from a lover of the Japanese Trilogy. Of them all KP was the best, closest to authentic but they really deserved their own original, intended molds and at the Titan Class as to scale properly within the new WFC> status quo. Star Convoy had so much potential but its essentially POTP OP. The DA set is ok at best with Dai Atlas being the worst, floppy waist, empty legs, no Micromasters, piss poor base mode etc.

I understand they had severe limitations and that was probably the best they could do but look at Double Dealer, hes nearly perfect IMG_20200321_113522_629.jpg
Regular retail mainline is the best.

Deathsaurus is prime for a Commander Class release with Star Saber to follow and a Titan Class Grandus or Galaxy Shuttle would be perfect.

I'm hoping they will do them as large voyagers / leaders. I know they may suffer a but but in theory they don't have to be anything to intricate as their transformations are pretty basic. Even if they were scaled up versions of the POTP versions, just with bigger wings on grimlock and Sludge, wings on slag, and better wings for swoop.

There is the possibility that we'll see a Titan set of 3 or 4 of them, I'd think. A set of Slag, Snarl & Sludge would be great, and Swoop/Grimlock would then be left as a Voyager and a Leader respectively. Or Swoop could be included in the Titan set, leaving Grimlock, the most popular and most likely to be sold well on his own, as a separate release.

Not sure if that's likely by default, but I'd think that it would be likely if Hasbro actively wanted to represent the Dinobots in the unified scale.

No arguments from this Japanese G1 fanboy! :thumb

In all cases everything fiction is what got me into the idea of collecting Transformers Legends. Everything else past that point had contributed to the reasons why I stopped. I mean the reason why there were zero Micromasters has to do with the fact their main focus was the Headmasters gimmick. They literally did so many of these that I became burnt out before it became interesting. Plus that same year a few Beast Wars fans pretty much soured that portion of the franchise for me. So when it comes to the remaining exclusives the way they handled their own Zone characters was the final excuse I needed to give Hasbro another shot.

But since that didn't work out my only hope hinges on either my current plans working in my favor... Or... TakaraTomy does something that convinces me to get Super Megatron. Because if that happened then I have a reason to try again with the original Return of Convoy set. And only because he is a 29 piece of filler than fans of the original sets never got. Man do I feel old thinking about that! :lol  Plus I should point out that both companies will make the non-G1 figures double as modern day fillers. Which is why he is nearly perfect. And has me wonder if they will do Powermasters in the end, or make part 3 another experimental filler bit.

As for TakaraTomy... I will not rule out the idea they will want to do more updates to certain figures. But if they do I hope they don't make mistakes when it comes to the remaining cast of The Basttlestars. Then again I expect to hear more non-JG1 fans treat those as a Hasbro co-release than as TakaraTomy exclusives. So here is to my hope that I am too busy with real life to bother with that. :p

if you'd be happy with upscales of the potp versions then why not just get the upscales of the potp versions rather than waiting for has/tak to do it?

I'm honestly ok with them not touching the Dinobots again for at least a while not because I don't like them far from it,but because we still have plenty of characters both G1 and non G1 that need updates that shouldn't have their slots be taken by iconic characters that just got updates fairly recent. If they're going to do the Dinobots again at least give it time for the characters that didn't get updates yet get updates first before doing so.

It'd be amazing to be able to have more Japanese G1 characters show up at retail but we also gotta remember that outside of Japan and a couple of fans they're far from being well known as the likes of Optimus and Megatron despite getting more and more exposure over the years like Star Saber and Deathsaurus have been getting. So it may take a while for that to happen.

Why they can't re-make Dinobots again soon? They just remake Mirage, Wheeljack and more just after they make them in previous PoP....so I hope for 3 leader and 2 deluxe class Dinobots. And a maybe , a BIG MAYBE, re-done of Fortress without lights and sound

mirage, sunstreaker, wheeljack and hound were combiner wars, not power of the primes so there is a difference of a few years, plus the potp dinobots actually looked like their g1 versions updated while the combiner wars car bots didnt. comparing the dinobots to the cw car bots isnt really an equal or fair comparison

This is why I never purchased devastator or predaking. Scale aside, I always felt that combiners should all be close to the same general size in combined mode. Luckily they ko'd a devastator that fits with my collection better imo.

If Dinobots aren't in WFC3, I will put money on them being in the next. They're too prominent and popular not to be featured early in the Generations reboot, especially for their sizes.

Man, if you're not on their board you're sure good at echoing the dumb crap that they MUST be saying. Facts are kids don't know ANY of the transformers characters nowadays and if a toy brand wants to continue they need to first of all be making cool toys. WFC is mostly just serving lapsed fans who were priced out of MP. That's fine. What it is NOT doing is building new fans by relying on old standards, the toys MUST speak for themselves. Good fiction like they had before could do that, good toys in general could do that. Bringing back the same 4-5 "recognizable" characters per line will just lead to fatigue.
