Joker is another "change for the sake of change" deal. Doesn't even compare to the Patient J fanfilm.

What Killing Joke influence? He's another criminal who gets cut up and paints himself(because it's "realistic"). Any time Hollywood shoots for "realistic" it looks fake.

Begins was a pretty mediocre film anyway, so I expect this to follow suit.

Can you imagine saying that before the role was actually cast?

Actually, this is much closer to the Joker's roots than any previous film incarnation. The Jokers "Chemical bath" transformation wasn't added to the comic mythos until well after the character had become an icon. Even then, it's one of many possible origins, as the joker never remembers it the same way twice. This Joker is psychotic, which is what the Joker should be. he shouldn't be funny, that's sort of the whole point.

And Begins was far from mediocre, it's probably the best superhero film ever made.

It took 2 years, but I've found someone who doesn't like Batman Begins. Hats off to you, sir.

Batman Begins was awesome... it got my interested in batman again after the years of cartoony movies with corny effects (i.e. Mr Freeze). Bale kicks ass as Batman... The Dark Knight will be even better!

I'm sorry but I have to totaly disagree with you about the Joker in The Dark Knight not being realistic, I mean how is an acid bath anymore realistic than what the movie is doing? Also as has been pointed out the Joker's Origin changes every time it's told. Hell, he even admits he can't remember it in The Killing Joke. As for Patient J it is good but from what I have seen and heard The Dark Knight's Joker is better.

What's the story behind this Joker? How did he get his face scarred up?

I think the thing I miss the most about the Joker is the lack of the toothy grin. I've always been a fan of the wide mouth.

That depends on how you determin "well after".Fact is that the "Chemical bath" transformation was first told in 1951 a mere 11 years after his first apperance and even before chemical bath story had been told it was already reveled that the Joke had white skin and was not waering make up but it wasnt till 1951 that it was told how that came to be.

And it really cant be considered "one of many possible origins" because Batman remembered his part in Jokers creation. So unless Joker found a way to trick Batman into beieving that it was him that droped the Red Hood into the chemical bath that cause him into becoming the Joker then its not really a possible origin story.
