If I end up getting this guy, I might display him like this, banged up with partial armor. I don't know if there'd be something that could be done with the leg armor or chest plate since they're large folding shell pieces.

This is not the Generations Selects line where we get niche characters. It's the Netflix line where we get characters from the show.

So, there's no way this was ever on the table.

Except that it really is, especially with some of the “new” figures like Hotlink and Scrapface.

If people really want a better use of the UM mold, there’s already GUOP (/sarcasm).

except its not. hotlink is an excuse to sell the seeker mold again and scrapface is a new character, not an obscure one

That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with there. I was paying close attention and I'm still disappointed, as are many others. I think most of us thought it would end up simply being a "dirtier" Ultra Magnus. Some of us were holding out a slim hope for an actual redeco - a nice "surprise!" from Hasbro considering they were actually hiding the figure. At the very least, I think almost everyone was expecting something akin to Megatron with the nice deco upgrade. What we're ending up with seems to be satisfying a few - but the rest are sorely disappointed there isn't more here. Why you don't seem to understand everyone's frustration with Hasbro's choice to get the fandom excited about a rather pedestrian redeco by hiding it in a box for a couple months is kind of beyond me...you're typically more reasonable at understanding the fandom than this.

being disappointed with the deco they chose is one thing, saying hasbro failed to meet the expectations that hasbro set is something else. hasbro didnt set the expectations, the fandom did, therefore the fandom set themselves up for disappointment. if the complaints were reasonable, like "man i was hoping it would be delta magnus and its not so im disappointed" then i would be more understanding. instead most of the complaints read along the lines of "hasbro didnt show us what the figure looked like so it had to be something super off the wall like delta magnus or nemesis magnus, yea, that has to be it. wait, what? its just a dirty grey washed magnus? epic fail hasbro". my lack of understanding "the fandoms" frustration is that they set themselves up for it

That Megatron is a great repaint. I usually refrain from repaints but that maybe an exception. If the connections are compatible, it might look great on EarthRise Megatron instead of that new Cyberverse-looking face it comes with.

That Megatron is awesome. Loving the chrome. Great throwback to the G1 toy.

This is very underwhelming. Like others, I had hoped for Delta Magnus/Diaclone colors, or possibly a metallic version, or maybe a lighter-hued G1 toy-accurate color-scheme. This Ultra Magnus looks TOASTED, as if he were baked for too long in the oven. I'll just skip this set & look for the shiny Megatron one!

I think you're defending Hasbro for the sake of defending Hasbro (or conversely, your aversion to fellow fans is expressed as Hasbro praise in the face of terrible design choices)

This UM toy is very disappointing. Hasbro sells these to fans. Ergo, fan disappointment is incredibly valuable as a makeshift tool for predicting sales. It's not supposed to be fans vs Hasbro, even if some fans (and Hasbro) feel that way.

im not defending hasbro, and if thats honestly what you think then you havent been paying attention to anything ive written regarding this topic. im being annoyed and frustrated at the entitlement of this fandom, at the narcissistic notion that if something isnt made explicitly for "us" in the way that "we" want it then it shouldnt exist. the fandom came up with their own improbable theories about what this figure was going to be, not hasbro, therefore the only people those fans have to blame for being let down is the fans that had the improbable theories, simple as that. hasbro never referred to this figure as a delta or nemesis magnus (keep in mind we had the product description shortly after the set was announced, where the figure was simply called ultra magnus) and there is a picture of ultra magnus on the side. anyone that can think logically would have known that the figure was just ultra magnus and not an alternate character deco. as far as the "theory" that magnus turns evil in the show, does anyone seriously see that as a possibility? they're more or less doing a modern retelling of g1, and in g1 magnus is an autobot that serves under rodimus, so the probability of magnus being turned into a con in the show is unlikely and the theory doesnt have much merit.

its not defending hasbro, its more asking people to start thinking with some logic before thinking these "theories" (really theyre more wish lists because they have no evidence or backing) are true.

I never planned on preordering this box set because I'm content with Siege Magnus and I assumed from the start this was just gonna be a extra battle damaged repaint.

Like you said most of his colors were washed out, you could barely make out a little blue on him so that still didn't confirm he was going to have his classic colors.

Ha ha. If y’all are going to continue on like this for a while longer. I’d kindly ask that whoever decides to post updates on further product reveals would just go ahead and start a new thread so we don’t need to keep checking back on this one and spend time sifting through all these kinds of posts
