For whatever it's worth: I agree that $18 is too much, but to be fair, it's not Hasbro/Takara that is making and selling these. Super7 is licensing them from Hasbro. That means that on top of all the costs Super7 has for design, manufacture, packaging and distribution, they also have to pay Hasbro a cut.

In addition to that, you have to factor in the economics of scale. Super7 is a smaller company and they are making these in smaller numbers than anything Hasbro would make. The smaller the run, the higher the costs. If Hasbro was making and selling these in Target, Walmart etc., they would be cheaper.

    Thank you

Ugh I hope they never do Ultra Magnus... I wouldn't want to have to get such an ugly figure for my UM collection.

I think the price on these is pretty high, but I gotta be honest. I will absolutely buy some of them if I see them at a store.

People, these aren\'t vinyl. They\'re high quality, and intentionally less detailed to make them retro.

But, the recent price hike is upsetting and offputting. I was fine shelling out $15 for Planet of the Apes retro-style figures. $20 for w - i - d - e faced action masters isn\'t.

Part of my issue is that this goes past "retro" to... a level of non-detail that never really existed?

Like I own some ReAction figures. They still have surface detail. OG Transformers figures had surface detail. Toys from the 80s had some surface detail. Retro doesn't have to mean shitty.

Who is making u buy the figure?

They should have given them more detail, no reason to make them look crappy (only some). I understand that they are supposed to be retro but why have the crappy sculpt. I would like to think that back in the 70s and 80s companies were doing their best to give us the best looking figure for the time, so they had to look how they did, but companies who are making products for the present and todays market should give better sculpts because they can.The Mezco 5points line is a good example, with Scooby and Super 7 has done better sculpts on some stuff I've noticed .Yeah, the price is way too high I agree. The parameters for a line like this should be that the figures are 3.75" and have the standard 5 points of articulation. I hate the spell check backslash errors u get also, I get them also sometimes. Sometimes, spellchecker is more if a curse ☺

They couldn’t even get the colours on mirage right? Aside from sculpting, it’s almost their only job, how’d they mess it up?

These remind me of my old G1 toys, in the way that what you got didn\'t resemble the cool box art. But back then kid me didn\'t mind too much. Sadly for Super 7, adult me is less easily pleased and a tad more discerning...

Somehow they managed to make Action Masters worse. That's quite the achievement.

I dunno, I'm looking at the same pictures you are.

    Exactly.
"Retro" should mean "as good as is possible with the manufacturing technology of the time".
"Retro" SHOULDN'T mean "we made them intentionally crappy, enjoy!"

In hand, they're solid, they have good paint, and very, very pointy. I'd dare say they have better plastic than some Transformers I've owned.

By "crappy", they are looking at figures from a specific 1978-1988 (ish) time period, and the limited toy-making technology of the time, and attempting to emulate that simple and lower-quality appearance.

There. I've explained enough. They made these figures for you guys, perfectly accurate and high-quality, and much more affordable than any other option. If you don't like it, don't pay attention. Don't reply. Leave it alone, and move on.

The "lower-quality appearance" is exactly our problem with them.
    They look bad.

    There. I've explained enough.

It's not for everyone. I see them as niche novelties. If you don't like them, don't buy them. Don't waste your time complaining.
