No, the original was never able to do that. This seems to be Lego’s idea.

Not sure if you're a Dark Souls fan, but if you chop off the tail, does it yield a weapon? Lol

Well just used concepts from that last one to build a micro-car racing around a track.

While I’m just getting into fake LEGO with guns.

I have no connection to the Original Pirate ship (I was already out of Lego when the Pirates theme happened), but I have to say that I preferred the look of the Original Ideas design over this.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good looking set, I can get the nostalgia and it's incredibly cool that you can recreate the ship. However, to me the Island in the original idea looked better. More of an integrated set/place where people lived. And while I was interested in getting the original idea, not so sure about this version.

I dunno, I think I like Lego's rendition better. Not just for the additional functionality of the removable pirate ship, but that does help. A lot of the shapes and ideas of the original build are still intact, just scaled-up to match the larger galleon. I like the more colourful take, and the opportunity to fully homage Lego's history, instead of just the lip service paid in the original write-up.

The original was perhaps a bit more "realistic", but that also translates to something a bit drab, IMO. The official set feels a bit more whimsical and Lego-y.

Think I can finally call these done! Posted a thread about them in the Radicons forum with more pictures and information.

It’s been almost five years, but here I am. I got the Arcade Jay last week for nostalgias sake, busted out some of the old Ninjago collection, them bought the Ferrari Tributo and the other Arcade Cabinets today, and now I’m here and can’t be happier.

Ah man, I remember when Ninjago first came out. My first set was Cole’s training session came with Cole a little archery stand. Those were awesome times, I didn’t get a lot of sets from the regular original line but the next year I got all four and Ninja and all four of their vehicles for my birthday. Ever since then I’ve always had a love for Ninjago. I stopped collecting the line as well as Lego as a whole, around the time that the Ninjago movie came out. Well some of the sets were pretty cool the movie was just so unfaithful to the cartoon and it’s lore, I hated it. When I realized that Ninjago‘s new theme was going to be video games, and that this summer‘s theme was going to be dungeons and dragons, I just felt some of that excitement return.

I’m actually OK with the new designs. The show is still the shell and the explanation for why they look different it’s OK on my behalf. I think the new designs give them a little bit more personality
