I'm going to list all Cyberverse characters who got gender-swapped to female:
    • Nova Storm (originally male in concept art)
    • Acid Storm (originally male in website bio/toy)
    • Clobber (originally a male Lugnut in preproduction)
    • Skywarp (never speaks)
    • Skullcruncher (do we count this?)
    • Quintessons (Judgement and Cruelty faces)
    • Cosmos (don't have anything to add here)
    • Jazz (cut idea, not in the show)
I'll let y'all be the judge of whether or not these are good.

I thought clobber was always going to be female, hence why hasbro forced the name change from lugnut

I'm not really a fan of gender swapping characters that have a history of being of a of particular gender. By all means give us new original female characters, though.

I prefer to think of Clobber as a 'sibling' of Lugnut instead of an alternative version of him. And Elita Prime? I'm down with that. Female Optimus Prime? Uh, no thanks.

Wow, crazy that they were really looking everywhere for characters. The fact that Transmutate was on their radar is insane.

Genderswapped Jazz would’ve been cool. Anything beats that embarrassing cookie cutter Jazz in RID 15.

I actually think I would’ve loved to have seen Animated Lugnut have dopey, sweet Clobber as his little sister he tries to mentor as a Decepticon and completely, hilariously fail.

except this is not animated, this is not G1, this isn’t prime or any other pre-existing continuity. You don’t need to justify a character’s existence as a sibling to another when that character doesn’t exist! You don’t need to say “I like to believe clobber is lugnut’s sister” there is no Cyberverse lugnut and there is no animated/G1/prime or whatever clobber.

Jeez, lotsa salt in this thread. Do people not realize that part of the creative process is literally throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks? Half of this interview is just that- ideas that came to mind but didn't progress beyond 'Hey what if we did [X] thing'. Of course some of the ideas are going to be better developed than others- because some of these ideas literally were not developed at all. Not to mention how Mae is only one person on the show staff- some of these idea probably weren't even hers, she's just recounting ideas that were bounced around the writer's room.

That aside, some really interesting bits in here. Starscream's redemption arc would have been an interesting direction for the character- shame it didn't pan out. Thunderclash being a rival to Jetfire would have been hysterical.

The note of Megatron realizing what he could have become when seeing Megatron X adds a lot of context to his actions in the latter half of the season.

-Technically, Acid storm was also male in the first two episodes, appeared one with his female voice and male face, and then fully female by the time the seekers captured wind blade.
-I think Nova storm was alright, it was more like they were giving here a character.
-I'm not sure if clobber was always meant to be she but she was definitely originally named lugnut, that came out a while back.
-Skywarp I forgot happened, prefer him as a guy but it was so minor it's not worth complaining about.
-Didn't even know quints had a gender, I think it works better.
    -Jazz has been discussed
-I didn't even realize cosmos was a girl, I thought he was a high-pitched young kid.
It makes me sad that didn't make the cut...

The people you are referring to have unlikely ever been involved in any actual writing process, creative or otherwise, except of course the drivel that they've written on message boards about how the Hollywood elite writers' clique has ruined all of their favorite stuff forever.

You really need understanding on why G1 fans don't want beloved characters to get the 2016 Ghosterbusters treatment..? Sure some will jump at the opportunity of calling us close-minded and other abrasive crap (the same way they did with original Ghost-busters fans and failed in every way). But I honestly would love more fembots and fem-cons added to G1-lore hence world building. I just don't want them at the cost of bastardizing existing male bots.

And I'm not even going to blame the writers of these shows... If Jazz wasn't planned in this show at all but his IP/Trademark was expiring all while SJW's were on Hasbro's back, they'd likely see it as possibly killing two birds with one stone. Them being a mega-corporation I can understand it to some degree. But as a consumer who values a nice portion of G1's continuity, I say leave existing characters alone and just make new ones!

Caminus could present as many new female Bots as they'd like. Or more Fateweavers from Eukaris.

Except Cyberverse is not actually "G1-lore" or part of that established continuity, it is actually its own thing. So you could just ignore everything that happens on the show and be just fine in the same way that some fans likely ignore IDW continuity for the same "not actually G1" reason (to them Caminus and Eukaris aren't even a thing).

except IDW is official G1 and cyberverse isn’t. Cyberverse is cyberverse. IDW is a G1 continuity not unlike how marvels comics are G1 and the 84 cartoon is G1. Making different stories with characterizations for certain characters. Good example is shockwave. Multiple versions using the original concept as it’s core basis. People who don’t believe IDW is G1 are just wrong.

You guys are taking this very personally. I asked several questions including one that wasn't addressed here in the notes.

That question was how they decided who got an Altmode model and who didn't. They decided that if a character could have all of their scenes in robot mode, then they would not write them in vehicle mode. This is why Soundwave, Ratchet, Rack'n'Ruin, Perceptor, Drift, and others are never shown transforming in the show. I like the logic they gave for this.

It is definitely G1 based, but sorry, I have to disagree as I think to say that IDW is simply just another part of the G1 family is misleading. It's actually more something new: a Neo-G1 I guess if it has to have a name. Sure it did start with that G1 only core basis to update it for the modern era, but the intention was to do something new with something old. It looked familiar, however it very much during the first run paved a new path far removed from the classic and started establishing it's own thing, free of preconceived notions from the 80's and (mostly) Hasbro's marketing, as well as bringing in not only characters and ideas from various other Transformers series but also creating many brand new ideas. In many ways, that's not any different from what Cyberverse is doing, maybe with different degrees of success and impact on the franchise and "Transformers-lore" as a whole, but they really are their own thing where something like Cybertronian colonies in one or a female version of an old character in the other being established in either can't effect or change the other, let alone change the classic "G1-lore".

Do you honestly think Steven Universe would have gotten a movie and an epilogue series if it wasn't actually successful?
