One or two tabs will likely need marginal sanding down to fit into their slots and the transformation will make or break you.

I haven’t even bothered transforming mine yet as I want it displayed in bot mode till I have the whole set- at which point they will all stay in combined mode! (With however much glue is required to hold them all together)

 

I managed to enjoy a single transformation before the boy claimed it

i do get TFEvo vibes how parts have to be in just the right place to fit, a challenge i don't mind

 

Ok guys received this beast. Not yet transformed, my impression are related only to bot mode.
Truck Cabin shall be connected as in the pic; however this will block waist rotation destroying the posability of the toy.


Guns SHALL NOT be installed as per instructions. This would limit (or cancel completely) the knee bend,again destroying the posability.
I've found a nice place to put guns that is on the shoulders. There are slots close to the external side of the wrists but they are limited in the posability because the guns cannot fit completely.
The cab makes this figure unbalanced, hence the only way to make it stable is to use one of the arms as a 3rd foot. I don't have anything against it because I believe in general that deceptions should appear as "beasts", standing as four-footed monsters (I do display Barricade in the same way). As you see, without guns here, the pose is more fluid.
quality wise, I've nothing to report, everything is OK on my copy, just one floppy wheel that I've already fixed by tightening the screw. I was scared by some previous comments about short screws, luckily everything is OK here.

Paint is wonderful, no doubt.

Considering the price I paid for, I believe this figure is a "meh". I will display it on the shelf as its presence is pretty amazing, but I don't think I will ever play with it since posing it is not funny at all. And I doubt rating can increase after I will transform it...

 

Ah, I forgot to mention that legs cannot open otherwise figure will loose its stability.

And, yes, shoulders are not transformed as per instructions, but I like them more like this.

So definitely he has QA issues....

 

I really like this set for the combined mode, but I'll be honest, I think Studio Series is better for the individual bots. I find them to be more screen accurate and have better proprotions (esspecially with Longhaul and Scavenger).

 

Well I'll be honnest to : if you want them in bot mode as a display you can pick the ss. If your looking for the combined mode then go with devil saviour and that is pretty much it.
As far as reviews go for devil saviour I think it is unanimous that they will never ever tranform them in botmode again because of the sheer unpleasantness. They will wait the other to combine and that is it.

It is funny because I never thought movie accuracy for botmode was something so important for characters we never saw more than 1 minutes on screen
But apparently a lot of people bash devilsavior just for the inaccuracy of the botmode... i find it strange.
And I also feel a little tired of this endless comparison...

 

That's kind of an interesting point about screen accuracy. I don't know what it is for me. Maybe nostalgia, maybe I just really like the whole combiner team group shot.

 

I'd agree with that assessment.

I have to be honest, with the level of detail he's got in combined mode, I almost would have preferred that DS went the route of the original Supreme Devastator and just focused on the combined and vehicle modes. Would probably be a lot cheaper that way, and you could still have the SS versions to represent the individual robot modes. Probably alone on this, but hey.

Obviously we have seen them all at this point and him combined. Not disappointed.

I stand by my guesstimate of 2 years to complete him.

To be fair I doubt their original plan factored in a major pandemic that shuts down the entire world... even if they meet april I'd be amazed (and buy stocks in chinese manufacturing since they'd have recovered faster than I'd have thought!)
