Should every Autobot have blue eyes and Decepticons red? Or should eyes color be a district trait? Kinda like jedi have different lightsaber colors.
In most series, eye color is not strictly bound to faction. Even in the G1 cartoon, there were exceptions to the usual "Autobots have blue eyes, Decepticons have red eyes" rule. Thrust had yellow eyes, 4/5 of the Stunticons and two of the Combaticons (Swindle and, from what I can tell, Blast Off) had purple eyes, and Brawl and Onslaught had orange optic visors. On the Autobot side of things, there weren't as many exceptions, but Hot Spot, at least, was an exception to the rule with his red eyes. Most other series have had even more variation, with the exception of Animated, which usually played by G1's rules more stringently that G1 did.
I would prefer eye color to be a distinctive trait rather than faction specific. Optimus would look a lot better if he'd kept his yellow eyes from the toys to break up all the red, white/grey and blue.
Truth be told, I actually do kinda miss the more diverse eye colors. I'm always down for a yellow-eyed Optimus.
In my opinion, colour is a powerful tool. So as in G1 it gives a clue who is who even before the character names himself. That creates a belonging like the logos do or when a character switches sides. I also love how the colour change could give a whole new meaning as it was in the Armada series for Starscream turning into Thundercracker colours. So yeah, this is not limited to eyes specifically even. There should be a meaning why something is coloured in the certain way.
I'm fine with most Autobots having blue eyes and most Decepticons having red eyes...but I also like some diversity.
I kinda wish they'd not stick so religiously to Autobots having blue and Cons having red eyes. I like when there's a variety of eye colors. What I'm actually saying is, where the yellow eyes at.
It is an easy way to make clear to the viewers who are good and who evil if all Autobots have blue eyes and Decepticons red. But personally I liked the more varied eye colours without faction based colours. Just every used colour can be either Autobot or Decepticon. (For example, Optimus Primal has red eyes and it looks good on him and I prefer Optimus Prime having yellow, but I think I would also prefer the toy based yellow for G1 Megatron.)
I like the standard of “Autobot - Blue eyes, Decepticons - red” with special exceptions. It’s a nice, consistent design choice in a franchise that usually doesn’t have many consistent design choices between different iterations.
All the colors of the rainbow should be represented in the eyes of the Transformers. Red/Blue is too limiting. There are 5 other colors in the rainbow, and all the colors in between. The colors should be made to fit the design. Red/Blue just makes the Autobots/Decepticons look like cultists. I think it was Cybertron Soundwave which had the bright purple visor eye. That looked amazing. Especially when you shined a light through that lightpiping. Also, Optimus looks great with blue eyes in animation form, but oh does he look dead with blue eyes in toy form. Like, he's a zombie. Yellow really does make his eyes pop in away that only Lightpiping, or an LED can match. But, I don't want the colors to be limited to yellow either. I want the colors to be up to the designers. And, I mean, all the colors of the characters. Not just the standard colors, but perhaps, rearranged colors, perhaps completely different colors! I like colorful things, and I would like to see more of it in Transformers. I want to see the eyes pop, not blend in to the helmets of the characters, like it does on Optimus Prime.
I always thought the yellow eyes on G1 Optimus Prime made him look creepy and sinister. Complete opposite of the main hero. They looked terrible on Cybertron Prime too.
Eye colours don't really matter IMO... but yellow eyes are really goddamn cool. They just SCREAM "Robot" to me. And I mean, TF has skewed away from red for Cons and blue for Bots in the 90's with the Turbomasters and Predators. Bloody green light piping for the bad guys and hot pink for the goodies. Badass!
Yea, I was going to say... Gundam uses yellow eyes all the time. And, they still succeed at looking heroic. Looking heroic is all about the overall colors, and the design of the overall figure. Not just one color. But, even if it did, I'll take 'sinister' and 'creepy' Prime over, zombie Prime, for no other reason than those eyes really pop and shine in that color palette. Then again, colors are totally subjective, so I can understand some people not liking it. But, man, I sure don't like the blue on Optimus. Unless again, it's light piped. But, I'd still prefer the yellow light piping if I had the choice. Or, any other colors the designers chose. Go for it. There are infinite colors between the seven. Try them all.
Eye color should definitely not be fixed, especially when certain characters are most well-known for an unorthodox color. Contrary to my avatar I prefer Nightbeat with the red visor. Probably the most popular one is Swindle, I don't think people would accept him with anything other than purple. There are lots of other examples too.
Being that Nightbeat's G1 toy had black eyes, I think it looks really good with black eyes too. But, I can also see how it would look great with a red visor as well. Or just red eyes.
Yeah, thanks to the comics screwing up the heads for him and Siren, the two of them have a lot of possible looks.
Ah, that's where you got the visor from. I'm not very familiar with the characters, so I just googled the toys, and found the G1 figures. I can see Siren looking good with Nightbeat's head. And, Nightbeat looking good with Sirens' head. And, head swapping was the whole point of Headmasters, wasn't it? So, it works. I can certainly see how great those red eyes look on Siren's head.
