Hey there are a lot of reasons you may want to get the Takara Tentakill: You might want to have him as a combiner part; you might not want to break up the brand band (or general esthetics of the line); you might not have the cash on hand to drop $75 for the TFC figure--which is the price you can actually get him for if you look hard enough.

But some people may not know what other options are out there. I know I wasn't familiar with the TFC versions until my interest was peaked with the Takara offerings and, disappointed by their Tentakill, I started looking around for other things. While Takara's is an interesting use of a bland mold, in my opinion it still appears fairly lacking and haphazard at that price point, especially compared to the other figures.
Indeed that's why I said I'm sticking with the Takara versions for the other five. For the price they are really good modern representations of the characters when looking at what all else is available. I'm happy to plonk down $35/$60 for them over something that may only be a tad bit better looking or fitting. Tentakill, I think not so much.
But everyone should have that opportunity to judge for themselves.

I mean it's cool, but personally I can't stand mixing radically different aesthetics in my collection, on top of that it wouldn't be able to combine and it probably towers over Deluxes, and most importantly, I couldn't use the TFC one to form Scramble 7. The only thing the TFC one has on GS Tentakill for my money is the articulated tentacles, I wish Takara had gone cartoon accurate and given him actual tentacles instead of the OG toy style ones.

    What's the point though?

The people in this thread *want* the Takara versions. It's the same thing people did in the Unicron thread.

If people are interested in 3P, they'll seek it out. You don't need to come advertise for them.

Isn't the point that he wanted to state his opinion without being hounded for doing so?

Are there Figuarts Power Rangers figures?
The Lightning Collection is pretty awesome. A Figuarts line would have fierce competition from it in my book.

there were. they basically stuck to the mmpr team, Gokaiger, Shinkenger, Akibaranger, characters that guest starred in akibaranger, and easy repaints that could be done from the aforementioned lineups.

on the subject of TFC vs Takara Seacons: the TFC versions are overly detailed to fit the g1 cartoon look most people want for their collections these days.
though they do fit in perfectly with a TF: Prime collection.

There are separate threads for that...

Imo they don't really fit in a modern collection. I always felt TFC was trying to produce chug combiners in MP scale.
I guess they would fit into a collection based around the Prime Wars leader class season one Decepticons.

But I don't see why people who express their opinion should be hounded for it.

Apparently less and less threads are available for stating an opinion that isn't "the right one"
Listen I don't want to clutter this thread about characters that I love with this discussion.
This isn't the place for discussions about 3p products, but he just wanted to state how he felt about Tentakill and that's all.
    That's what I believe.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to getting Tentakill and Overbite in hand and display them in alt mode and build Piranacon.
It's awesome that we're getting official chug figures of these guys.

Well, keep in mind A3&U charges for preorders when they have confirmation the shipment is COMING to them, NOT when it arrives. So they've got to get it and ship it out and then I've got to get it, I'd estimate about 2 weeks now before I get it. If no one else has taken a good number of pics by then, though, then sure.

I don't mind a "here's a 3p alternative" post, but my issue is someone drops a 3p bomb, then the thread turns into 10 pages of Hasbro vs 3p arguing that has to be sorted through for relevant discussion

    Transformers 3rd Party Discussion

Anyone can talk about 3p there I guess.

The issue, I believe, is this is a thread for the Pulse Seacons, and it's suddenly clogged with posts about how 3p figures are better than it.

I don't think this is what this thread is intended to be about.
