With what's going on in the world, I don't think we'll see much going on, but they may squeeze a Hound repaint before the end of the year. Now's probably a good time to start paying POs off as the dollar has gained, it'll be a question how long that last though.

All I can say is I love my FT version. Still holding up just fine. I never thought twice to pick up Takara MP Hound. My decision is further justified given all of its issues given the much higher price tag. A high quality KO of MP Hound is far more likely to fix its issues than a mere reissue of the same problems will.

I have to admit, if mine breaks and there is a cheap ass but high quality KO without these issues well before any official acknowledgement of the problem by TakaraTomy, I'm buying the KO and not a reissue. I have bought zero MP KO's to date. But I'm also not a sucker.

You know it’s funny. I was kind of thinking the same thing today.
And... I used to be firmly opposed to KO’s. The whole moral and principle. But now because of this MP Hound I’m glad their are KO’s to keep Takara in check so to speak and keep them honest and accountable.
If they really are concerned about retaining a loyal customer following, they have no better choice than to clean up their QC. Admit fault, and try their best to atone for it. Otherwise they’ll suffer the consequences. Let’s see what happens. I honestly hope for the best for everyone moving forward, Takara and the hobby as a whole. Takara, I’m behind you I believe in you and want to see a prosperous future for y’all for a long time to come

The 21st century Hamlet may of said:

‘To KO or not to KO, that is the question...’

If there is a KO or 3rd party version, it better be superior, for example THF version of Ultra Magnus (foldable bottom flap).

I wonder if the underlying issue has more to do with a reaction between the green paint and the plastic. Perhaps a solvent in it that just weakened the plastic or something like that. I'm not overly impressed with TT's skill with paint so it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Transforming it has nothing to do with it breaking.

I think it's possible. Could explain how copies aren't all breaking at the same time.

I think it has. There's a problem with the plastic, the more you handle it, the more stress you put on the plastic, you can't deny that.
If someone has a copy that has been transformed at least 10 times back & forth with no breakage after a while, that would trigger your curiosity and be an interesting copy no ?

I transformed my Hound over ten times in the first few weeks I owned him. No problems or issues. Then, I put him in my display for a couple of weeks without touching him... Lo and behold, the cracks started appearing. I actually think NOT handling him is doing more damage than transforming him regularly.

There's collectors stating they've never transformed Hound and it is breaking. Some are actually like that out of the box.

Yes, mostly EVERYONE has transformed Hound at least once, and even then breakage is happening.

I transformed mine 7 times. It was perfect. Then all of a sudden cracks developed overnight, but those same cracks were also reported by collectors that only transformed it once, never transformed it, or came like that out of the box.

The plastic they used is a combination of shit, and then more shit. This is a QC disaster, there is no theories/he says/he told me/climate BS IMO.

An amazing design that will always be seen as TT's worst figure. A damn shame. Nothing to do but hope for a fixed version in the future, at least in my case. None of the other options will EVER do it for me seeing what TT was able to design.

Again: would rather be Hound-less than owning those.

I've transformed mine more than ten times. At first, fairly often just because it was fun. But then, once I saw all the stories about breakages, I made sure to do one transform-and-back every week. Two months after he arrived there were no cracks, and last week I put him in the display cabinet. It's been about ten days now, so I shall go and have a look at him. Back shortly.

    ...

    He is still okay!

Magnify the camera on your phone, specially on the neck armature.

That reminds me of something my Uncle Dan told me a long time ago...

My Uncle Dan: “You know what that little white speck is on top of a pile of chicken shit?”

    Me: “no...”

My Uncle Dan: “Just more chicken shit”

I did over 50 times, back and forth, without issue. It was several weeks AFTER that when cracks started to develop.

Transformation has nothing to do with it as identical cracks have appeared on ones that have never been transformed. As well as all numbers in between 0 and 50 times.

    I know all this ...
I've been through & through all this and had my share of issues with my copy just like way too many people. Just wanted to check the state of things today, because I really like Hound like many of you do.

I still hope to find decent copies because some people boast on fb for example that they have no issues with their copy but when you ask them questions you don't learn much.

    anyway I won't post again

Fortunately, I don't have a phone with a camera, so I can stick with the resolution of my eyes and be happy with Hound!
