For Transformers, yes. Other toy lines no. Really Hasbro needs to move out of China as does every other company.

People definitely turned that up to 100 for no reason. That said, no country should count on another country for every consumer good from electronics to antibiotics.

Alright, I'll leave this thread to the news mods for any official actions but just warning you guys to please stay on topic. Obviously there will be mention of the virus but keep things focused on the hobby and how things relate to it instead of moving to full on world/political discussion. Thanks.

I think we should expect a good-sized drop in production quality after all this, as Hasbro works to recoup the costs of lost productivity.

If that’s true then that’s good news. In the pilot episode of Gargoyles, when the Viking leader sees that he has cut Goliath’s hand with his sword, he yells to his men, “they’re not invincible, lads, we can take them!” That’s what this is to me. A bit of reassurance that we can indeed fight this pandemic.. it’s not much but I’ll take what I can get, I’ve been a bit scared.

There's a lot of good news about COVID-19 you just have to dig a little to find it.

I think we're going to have bigger things to worry about in the aftermath of this pandemic than the quality of Transformers toys. Like, *everybody* is going to be trying to find ways to recover from not just the loss of life, but the global recession caused by millions being forced to shelter-in-place to avoid spreading it further.

There is nothing good about what is happening now. Nothing. At all. You gotta stop.

Right now I'll take good news where ever I can get it. I know this really isn't important in the grand scheme of things but hopefully, this is at least a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Yes, Transformers production has been moved to Vietnam, but they still have factories in China and other toys they produce.

I suspect that many will switch to local factories to protect themselves from this sort of thing coming in the future. Even if governments force them to do so with tariffs and taxes to recoup the economic damage caused to the world. It would mean higher retail prices for those too stubborn to move, but frack 'em if they do. I don't need toy robots that bad.

Fuck Goldner. Eveybody here gives him a pass because he helmed Hasbro as the TF movies brought about a surge in Transformers popularity and strength. But he's a typical cut-throat piece of shit business type. I have no idea what condition is China in really. I doubt Goldner does either. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's not in tiptop shape and people are less than 100% willing to get back to their low paying, long hour, heavily congested labor jobs. You know...without being given a slight/heavy handed nudge by dmestic leaders and foreign business heads.

But whatever, just my thoughts. Just so sick of this profits first garbage.

In general, this is a rolling tragedy. What is good is that we're seeing proof that there are genuinely good people out there. For every prepper assclown who has hoarded stacks of toilet paper in their basement, there's a healthcare worker taking care of people with shoddy (or no) PPE, no sleep, in hellacious working environments, literally risking their own lives to help other people. There is a glimmer of hope for humanity here.

I remember watching a video where someone said that the factories in vietnam are better for their assembly of tf toys while the china factories are better for action figure paint
They said hasbro tried making an mp figure in china but it really sucked, i think it was prowl
