A Magnus' nerdie student with his retinue of walking ashtrays for me, thanks .... ....and, uh, oh, noise marines with full complement of space guitars and punk crests, obviously ...
My bedtime reading is old white dwarfs. I get the feeling (maybe incorrectly) that modern warhammer has cut back on the satire/goofiness of the old school stuff (a shame to my mind if so). Either way, would love to see some Bandai orcs like the below, unlikely as it may be:
With the awesome news that the old world will return in some way, what do people think would be obvious choices for a Bandai fig from that part of the franchise? I know there aren’t any reasons to think they’d do one, but it’s fun to think about! I’d love a skaven clanrat or assassin, and I guess dwarf slayers were as close to posterboys as the old world had?
Necro-bumping this thread because with many people having down time, this is a great hobby to get into. That, and I'm getting back into it. The LCS has people come in to play Kill Team every other weekend, and the owner mentioned I should stop in just to watch. I did this past Saturday and had a blast. I had sold or passed on almost all the figures I had previously, so aside from some random stuff I found in old cases (LOTS of bits), I was going to start from the ground up. So far, I have: Genestealers box Termagant box Warriors box Lictor Tyranid starter box (Mawcore, Broodlord, Genestealers) Really looking forward to getting back into the painting and customizing game again.
That is a bold choice given that a number of states have encouraged or mandated the closure of non-essential businesses. Good luck to you!
Oh, I should have clarified, we are NOT gaming at this time. The meet up this past Saturday was the last time until it's once again safe to do so. Until then, I bought these figures and sets to occupy my time and get me hyped for the future.
Magnus literally did everything wrong. On that note, McFarlane is coming up with 6 inch Primaris Marines (both Ultramarines and unpainted versions).
Hell yes! I’m super stoked to see where they go with it. I’ve got the Bandai one on order, and I suspect the mcf will end up being under articulated for my taste, but on the other hand they could come out with some amazing looking stuff. Old school assassins and orcs please (and a blood angels beakie)! Played the ps3 space marine game for the first time recently and was impressed at it being pretty decent (seemed as good as war for cybertron), although a weird cliffhanger ending.
Been working on my Kill Team. So far I just have the Genestealers and Lictor built and started, but have the Warriors at home that still need built. LOTS of work left to do on these, but I'm pretty happy so far. Base coated a very light flesh color, washed in Druchii shade, highlighted with the base color with a tiny drop of shade, washed again, highlighted again, washed in purple ink, highlighted again. I highlight with wet-blending so it isn't stark and blends better with the previous layers, and as a nice side effect the purples get a blue tinge to them to create a more organic coloring. Carapaces and claws will be black (made of purple and black paint), and the sinew detailing may be either blue or red. Still undecided.
I didn't realise! I assumed it was due to planning a squeal but my shallowest of googles didn't come up with any info. Ta!
First review I’ve seen. I think they were harder on the figure that I would/will be, but the lack of double knees is a bit of a bummer. Still looking forward to it though I wonder when we’re likely to see more of the mcfarlane figure? I’m interested in that one partly as it seems like there’ll be more chance of other chapters/armour types/figures from them. My main hope is that the articulation doesn’t loose out too much - and that there’s an oldhammer fanatic in charge of character selection
Oof. Hearing the idea of "waiting for McFarlane" makes me pale. I've never had good quality control throughout the life of McFarlane, going all the way back to Spawn. Good looking molds and sculpts but toys that like to break and fall apart. Still looking forward to the Bandai figure. Bandai, if anything, is the "devil that I know."
If McFarlane does the Marines anything like what the Hellbat is like, I have no worries. This Bandai one, while nice and detailed, just seems rather pale and bland. The lack of double knee joints completely kills my interest as well. A Space Marine that can't kneel just doesn't sit right with me.
That’s cause of the design Beakie or bust! (I mean, I’ve got a Bandai one on order and am sure I’ll try mcfarlane too, but still )
