I like this one a lot. Good likeness to the animation model overall, reasonably easy transformation (though I do keep popping off the windshield bits that are on his legs), and an excellent car mode.

My only minor complaint is his shoulder cannon. I wish it was more like the long barrelled gun of his animation model than the stubby rocket launcher of his toy.

 

I’d rather have a Slicer repaint personally.

 

I'd like to share my 3D-printed transforming wings for Earthrise Wheeljack. These are an option for those who don't like the partsforming of my earlier swappable wing design. They're longer than the stock wings and use an asymmetrical design to overlap each other in car mode. There's a version with one piece for each wing and a design with two pieces for each wing, allowing printing in two colors or easier painting. I have a feeling Hasbro isn't going to go that route with the Action Masters. And personally speaking, I think it would almost be a disservice to this cult part of G1 if they didn't go for a proper take on them (especially considering how they're giving the MM bases completely new molds).

 

Idk if anyone else has had this issue, but be careful with these parts, they were loose outta the box, but then got worse, turns out mine are cracked

 

Cool vehicle mode, shame the robot mode is so boxy and G1.

 

....Isn't that the point though? It's SUPPOSED to be G1 Wheeljack. If it weren't "boxy" and G1 then...it wouldn't be Earthrise Wheeljack. It'd be Prime Wheeljack or IDW Wheeljack or whatever. I mean, if you want a non boxy non G1 Wheeljack there's a bunch of them out there. No need to get the ER one if that isn't your flavor.

 

If there's no delay, I think I'll get mine tomorrow...is there any fragile parts I need to take caution when taking him out of packaging?

I mean, to be fair this is 2020 Wheeljack, not G1 Wheeljack. There's nothing wrong with wanting a good looking version of the character that isn't 100% stuck 30+ years in the past.

But then again, Earthrise's MO just happens to be "Mimic G1 so hard, it hurts!", so this figure looking the way it does should come as no shock to anyone.

 

IMO, complaining about boxy G1 based Wheeljack is like complaining the water is wet-

 

well Snow sucks because of that reason and it's frozen water, Snow is cold and wet and gets everywhere,

wheeljack is preferable to snow,

I’ll say it again (maybe every time I see a pic of the old generations WJ), but for all it’s dumpiness, man did I dig its color scheme. Especially the green it uses.

So yes, I’ll be happy to grab this as my new WJ, but I’ll always love the old one for that and, really, for getting me into collecting CHUG figures. It was my gateway drug into the hobby big time.
